Robert Bean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 8, 2024.
Robert F. Bean, 56, of Windsor, NY, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Waverly, NY, was the son of Karl and Arlene Bean. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cathy VanZandt, and his children: son Joshua (Britany) Bean, daughter Samantha (Joshua) Shafer, and stepchildren Thomas Kennerup (Tracee), Tiffany (Manuel) Gonzalez, Dillon Kennerup (Ashley), and Airyell (Connor) Plonski. Bob was a proud grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and love.

Bob is also survived by his siblings Anthony (Molly) Bean, Jack Bean, Mike (Patti) Bean, Scott (Tammy) Bean, and Dorothy (Lynn) Richter, as well as his father and mother-in-law Donald and Donna VanZandt. He leaves behind brothers-in-law Michael (Patty) VanZandt, Doug VanZandt (Becky), sister-in-law Sharon VanZandt, as well as Devin VanZandt, Joe Ritcher and Francis Amey who he shared a strong bond with.

Bob proudly served in the U.S Navy, where he was honored to serve his country. As a Navy Veteran, he carried the values of duty, honor, and commitment throughout everything he did. He then continued by dedicating his career to the HVAC industry working as a foreman at the USP Canaan Federal Prison in Waymart, PA, where he was known for his hard work and integrity.

A passionate outdoorsman, Bob loved spending time at his family cabin in Waverly, NY, where he could often be found hunting with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the beauty of the Thousand Islands, where he spent many hours camping, fishing, and boating. At home, Bob was known for his meticulous care of his property and his love for tinkering in his garage. He soaked up every moment of daylight and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Above all, Bob will be remembered for his kind soul, his generosity, and his unwavering support of those he loved. His selflessness, work ethic, and ability to make everyone around him feel valued and cared for will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, Bob. You will forever be in our hearts.

To honor Bob's wishes there will be no services.

I worked with Bob at USP Canaan. He always greeted me with a hello. He always was willing to offer assistance with whatever the job was. You will be missed by your friend and family at Canaan. Rest easy brother we have the watch from here.

My favorite memory was when we were little and went trick or treating to our great grandma and grandpa woodcocks house one year. Bob was dressed up as snoopy and his tail was a long stuffed sock pinned to his backside. Great grandpa tugged on it and it came off.

You will be forever missed. I know you so loved the campground and the hunting. I cherish the the last time at the camp we spent together. I was so thankful I was able to spend the time with you. Until we meet back up in the big yonder, rest in peace and know you were loved
