Mr. Benton created some of the most touching films of my lifetime. "Places in the Heart" is at the forefront of those films which had a meaningful impact on my life. Thank you for your amazing contributions to the art of film. I´m going to repeat here what Danny Glover signed on my poster for "Places in the Heart" when I met him last year: "We make our life by what we give." You gave quite a lot to us all and it was straight from your heart, sir. The world is a better place because you were in it. Rest in Peace, Mr. Benton.

Our condolences to Benton´s family from one of his "oldest friends" from his time living in Oak Cliff on Windermere as a young boy. Bob McElree spent many hours playing with Benton as kids and all of Bob´s children have heard stories about their adventures. They both loved drawing and spending time with the McElree family, especially their grandfather.
I know he will be missed by many friends and family. Robert was a very talented writer, director and producer. Thinking of all of you, Kathy McElree

Such an incredibly talented producer and screenwriter. He worked on amazing and outstanding movies.. One of my all time favorite movies is "Kramer vs. Kramer". Sincere condolences to the Benton family, so very sorry for your loss. May God be with you in your time of loss.

Benton was a dear friend for seventy years. I am remembering the many many times we met and a comment from him at each occasion. There are wonderfully vivid and immensely entertaining memories.
