Benz, Robert 11/30/1936 - 8/12/2019 Fort Mill BENZ, ROBERT (Bob) RAYMOND Robert Raymond Benz 82, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at his home in Fort Mill, SC. He was born November 30, 1936 in Ann Arbor, MI, son of the late Raymond William Benz and Elma Lewis Benz. After serving in the US Army he went on to graduate from the University of Santa Clara. Bob owned Benz Microscope Optics for many years, retiring in 1992. Bob enjoyed golf, coin collecting and traveling. Mr. Benz is survived by his wife of 61 years, LaLoie Paterson Benz; two sons, Raymond William Benz (Dawn) of Marietta, GA and Michael Lawrence Benz (Terri) of Saline, MI. 6 grandchildren: Katherine Silva, Emily Benz, Matthew Benz, Robert Benz, Kelsey Benz and Kayla Benz. Cremation has taken place and at a later date will rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Ann Arbor, MI. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202 or the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or the American Cancer Society, Lancaster County Relay For Life, 1901 Brunswick Avenue #100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
