Dad,
I can't believe it's been a year and a half now since we lost you. It's funny because I still feel like you are with me. It's like you never left after all this time. I constantly feel your presence and remember you looking into my eyes and telling me how much you love me; along with other things. As your daughter, words cannot describe this feeling -you are still with me and I am very thankful that you never left my side. I love you dad so very much and on your special day I present you with this candle of my love for you.

Happy Birthday!!!!

Bobby,we finished your Bell, the one Jimmy ordered from New York, I know you hear it in Heaven........it will go to Todd and Kelly.I am sure even your Grandchildren will keep it for many many years. We hung it on the porch on your Birthday, it's loud! I can see you smile everytime we ring it.
I fell asleep thinking about how goofy we were as kids.....how we could entertain each other for hours and see which one could make the other laugh the most. I could hear us laughing at each other, it was easy to picture us as little children. The silliest things bring back memories .the theme to Alfred Hitchcock's TV show, The Outer Limits, a yo-yo,the Three Stooges. It seems these things keep popping up when I least expect it, I know that is you. You were a good Brother to me and I miss you.....I always will until we meet again. You never leave my heart.I will go see your marker this week. I love you

Happy Fathers Day Dad!

Your grave marker came in at the perfect time. A special gift designed specifically for you bye Todd and I. I know you really like it as much as we do and we are so excited to give it to you on this special day.

Here is a Fathers Day card just for you:

Life Lessons

You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The woman I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.
I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful daughter.

I love and miss you Dad,
Kelly Bish

May 15, 2011

Dad,

It’s so hard losing you. It feels very strange losing someone you have a connection with. I still feel that you are with me and that you never really left- probably because you are still with me and you really haven’t left.

I want to pick up the phone and call you, but I can’t. It’s so hard losing you. I remember growing up eating Mexican food together and how we both loved to be chip n dippers, that’ s one thing we both really enjoyed doing together. I will always miss that. I have such fond memories of going to the Monterey house, or whatever Mexican food we could get our hands on and watching you eat those jalapenoes like candy (in your younger days).

I miss talking to you for hours on the phone about the simple things in life and how fast it passes us by. Gosh you were so right- I finally see it now. I miss the times when you would come to my house and hang out with the family and stay all day…sometimes to the point where I thought you would never leave. WOW I would love to take that moment back. I miss sitting around watching you making dollar bill rings and paper flowers for the grandchildren. Talking to you about your boxing stuff and judging fights and watching sports on TV with the family. I miss going to Luby's with you and then Baskin Robbins for ice cream- watching you chow down on your banana split. It’s just the simple things that mean so much that I took for granted all this time and now I really miss those simple things even your quirky phrases like “oww man.”

I miss you dad, and I know you felt that you never really were the greatest father and that we were disappointed in you. I am here to tell you, you were there so many times for me and I am very proud to have you as my father. You always wanted the best for me as a dad and I know you are looking down from the heavens above with a smile of admiration. That makes me happy knowing you are proud of me. We have been through a lot sharing the same love for one another.

Dad, you truly are special to me. I see you as the kindest soul, most giving, and loving person I actually know. I am so happy to have shared the time with you and I know you are as well. Don’t worry about a thing because I know in my heart how much you really loved me so you can rest in peace and I honestly believe we will be together again.

I love you dad always and forever.

Your daughter,

Still Kelly Bish to you :-)

P. S. I know how much you love cards so here is one especially for you dad:

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s rush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds of circling flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there
I did not die.

Dear Sweet Robert:

Everyone knows this cliché, “you never get a second chance to make a good first impression”. I’ve attended numerous sales-type related seminars and experts teach that within 8 to 30 seconds of an initial meeting that a lasting impression is formed (i.e. one has only a very small window to form a memorable “good first impression“), so make it count! When we met initially in 2009, I was aware within seconds, on an intuitive level, that you possessed a sweet soul, gentle and kind-hearted. My first impression was “spot on” and you proved this cliché to be true! Through years your actions continually demonstrated yourself as a sincere, sweet man, including, and down to the soft-toned manner when you spoke. I treasure the memory when you finally “opened up to me” and explained that you are shy (and voicing your feelings was not easy), but you wanted me to know that you really liked me. Of course you didn’t have to tell me, but you made a point to share your feelings for me. The sweetness by that comment touched my heart! When giving gifts your thoughtfulness and consideration was shown by occasionally including lottery tickets -- such a fun surprise! During various occasions & holidays you told me you spent countless hours painstakingly selecting the “perfect” gift cards (which I was “blown away”) by that fact. Another unique, rare personality attribute of yours. You truly cared! You possessed an “eagle eye” and attention paid to the tiniest of details never ceased to amaze me. The first time you shared stories from “boxing days” and demonstrated a “lightning speed boxing jab”, I remember the wide-eyed-jaw-dropped-open reaction on my face since I was extremely surprised and caught off guard by the speed of that jab. You saw this and said and something like, “yes, I’m older, but still very quick!”, then we both shared a good laugh! I have many fond memories of you. Your legacy continues within your children, your family, and through the countless friendships and associations you developed during the course of your life. I love you and grateful for the times we shared together.

Very truly yours,

Uncle Bobby, I am so sad to say goodbye! I have a million memories of you in my childhood that I will forever treasure. Rusk St., Hackney St., Houston Used Carpet, the time it snowed on Hackney, the Red Velvet Hot Pants and Go-Go boots you and Aunt Faye gave me for my 4th Christmas, the Shetland Pony that came thru the neighborhood that I was terrified of til you took my hand and led me to it, Mac Trucks as my playground, the Houston Cougars, Dinner Bell, Elvin Hayes, the way you would devour Nana's Pasta, the donut shop, Medida's Mexican food, your Gold Cadillac, Thanksgivings, your dollar bill tricks, and how very, very kind you were to me. I will miss you making me laugh and hearing your stories of "Down Goes Frazier", and all the great fights you called. You will stay tucked in my heart until we meet again on the other side. Thank you for all the love and great memories. You have been a great influence on my life. May you forever dance with the Angels and may your cup overflow with joy. I love you.

January 27, 2011

Thank you Bobby, thank you for all the memories, memories of a time when we were small, before we left Milwaukee and you would pull me on the snow sled, that was so much fun....and memories of summers in Indiana at grandmas old farm house. Thank you for teaching me how to play marbles, and letting me teach you how to play jax, thank you for letting me be "Queen for a day" when it was really your turn to be "King for a day". All the times you tried to keep me from climbing to the top of a tree,or, jumping off a rooftop. You always were there when we were little. There was no televison back then, so at night we layed on the floor and listened to the radio,Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, all the Big Bands would be playing and sometimes mom and dad would dance, and daddy would put my feet on his and dance me around the floor and mom would hold your hand and you would dance with her.
We played Cowboy and Indians all day long, we were Marines fighting the Germans, or Japanese, we were Baby Boomers and didn't even know it. We dug a hundred holes in the ground trying to get to China.... we built castles out of milk crates and cakes out of mud. You were the world champion at Yo-Yos.....no one could "walk the dog" like you.You told me stories at night until I fell asleep, you held my hand going to school on my very first day and I was afraid, but you came to my room to check on me. Thank you.Remember when daddy bought us the Gorilla suit, you and I went around the neighborhood scratching on doors and grunting and scareing everyone.hhehhehe. When we got older we drifted apart for awhile, like most brothers and sisters, but then the kids came and we started getting close again. You were always so kind and to me, such a great listener, I could tell you anything and you would not judge me.......You told me what a great sister I was,how lucky you were to have me in your life.....no I was lucky to have you. You could make me laugh so hard sometimes that my stomach would hurt. You never failed to send me a card on my Birthday or Valentines .When I was sad you would sometimes cry with me, you would try to lift my spirits up by reminding me of something stupid we had done as kids. Thank you for the million other things you did for me, your kindness, gentle soul, thoughtfulness,..........thank you. You are finally at peace now...with daddy, I know he was waiting for you. I will see you again when you come for me, until then I will miss you more than you could have ever imagined, you took a piece of my heart with you and one day I want it back. I love you.....your little sister"DUKE".
