Dear Sister Bitner, We were a just married couple living in New York during part of 1952 & 1953. I was stationed with the U. Sl. Army in N. Y. City & Arlene & I lived in Jackson Heights on Long Island. We were acquainted with you in the Ward & had the opportunity to tend your children (22 or 3 at that time) so you & Bob (Dr. Bitner) could have a night off. Although we never saw you again back in Utah we have thought of that experience in New York many times. We especially remembered the good example of what a young married couple should be. May the Lord continue to bless you. Alan & Arlene Christensen, South Jordan, Utah

I lived in Layton several times as I was growing up and he was a constant in the life of my family. As a young man he impressed me with his ability to put you at ease and really seemed to listen and understand your feelings. Even if you were a kid.

Dr. Bitner...What an incredible man he was. He was my Dr. from the time I was born 52 years ago. My parents (Jim and Louise Brandell) adopted me and my mom had no idea how to take care of a newborn. Dr. Bitner was her angel. He went on to take care of my son who is now 31, for the first year of his life. Dr. Bitner even attended my wedding! I so loved this man. His warmth, knowledge, kind spirit and loving heart. I hadn't thought about him in years and just the other day, he was on my mind so it is ironic that he should pass away at this time. May your family know how much you loved and cherished them and that they find comfort in that.

May you rest in peace with the angels, as you are one to me. I hope you see my parents in heaven and if you do, give them a hug for me. With love and warm regards,
Cari

Dr. Bitner was a special man; patriarch to his family and community, and although he saw dozens of boys grow up in our once small corner of Layton, this is one boy who always considered him a friend -- he and his wife were always so kind and meaningfully generous to me.
His amazing family is his greatest legacy.
Best wishes, love, and condolences to the Bitners, and extended family.
