Married for a couple of years, 1960-1962, to Bob's wife's sister, Kathy Moore, I was Bob's brother-in-law during that time. Enjoying an additional common bond -- chess -- Bob became one of my best friends. While I have not seen Bob for about 50 years, we stayed in touch by e-mail for the past three decades and even played a few games of chess in the process. He, however, did not answer my most recent two e-mails, so I looked for his obituary, and, sadly, here I am. Bob, a good man, was a good relative for a while, a good friend for more than six decades and an outstanding human being for 87 years. I miss Bob. May he rest in peace, and may he find many worthy chess opponents in Heaven. --- Timothy Bishop, Bethel, Connecticut.

Dear Family Members,
I am deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing. He had written a story and sent a photo of his beloved doggie which is to appear in our Howe High School Class of 1952 Fall newsletter. Along with his story now will be our condolences for our classmate. Blessings of peace for you. Cynthia Hatfield Wilkens.
