Robert L. Bond

Robert LeRoy Bond, 84, of Wind Gap, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the VNA Hospice at University Ridge, East Stroudsburg. Born: May 15, 1926, in Sciota, he was a son of the late Dewey and Aita Beatrice Bond. Personal: He was the husband of the former Frances H. Paolini; they were married for 55 years. He served in the USN Armed Guard during World War II. He was at Boatswains Mate and was awarded the European Theater Ribbon, the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He enjoyed attending his Armed Guard reunions, maintaining close friendships with those with whom he served. He was a self taught carpenter and builder; he had his own business in the 1960's. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Memberships: He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Pen Argyl, he was a 4th Degree Knight and a member of the Father DeNisco Council of the Knights of Columbus, Bangor, and a member of the Wind Gap American Legion. Survivors: In addition to his wife Frances, he is survived by a son David R. Bond and his wife Kay E. of Pen Argyl; nieces and nephews. Services: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010, in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Ave., Pen Argyl. There will be a visitation Wednesday from 9:30 till 10:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Pen Argyl.
