I had known Bob for decades. He was my art education professor when I added that qualification to my art degrees. He was caring, kind, helpful, with a great sense of humor and his interesting, original viewpoints, experience and knowledge in his field made him an exceptional teacher
And he was also a remarkable friend. We frequently ran into each other at Kroger and what he and my husband called the Kroger Conversations became a tradition. Bob always asked him about our two sons in addition to a great variety of topics and in a short time there was laughter, joking, teasing, happy times.
His letter after my husband memorial service recalled the Kroger Conversations ,and offering help---, a great, comforting hug .
Each meeting with him was joyful and now a treasured memory'
He also fed homeless cats.
Thank you Bob.

Please let me know when you plan to have the memorial service. Robert Borchard was my art teacher back in 1981. He had a great impact on my life.
Sincerely,

I looked forward to every visit with Bob! By spending time discussing the framing of many of his prints, I learned about his passions, his past, and his political views. He spoke so often of his family and his childhood. I treasure the time we spent together and will miss him!

Oh dear Bob! you weren't supposed to go before I saw you again!! Bet you're inventing something or reading your mail!
What a kind man. He always supported me in grad school with a smile and a hug. Then later I cleaned for him and cataloged his books and videos. He made me sit and have lunch with him so many days. He bought my etchings and prints and gave me lovely copies of his drawings. I loved his house and thousands of pieces of art.
He always fed stray cats milk and food on his back porch. He loved to watch the ants and feed the birds on his front porch. I will miss him lots.

We are really going to miss our good friend Bob. Forty five years of memories to reflect on and treasure. Bob was a great pen pal...letters, pictures, books and photos flowed back and forth for decades. He kept us informed of all that was going on in Athens.
It's been years since we've been there, but we loved our visits to the Guysville Hotel. So much art and memorabilia crammed into every nook and cranny. You never knew what might present itself!
Bob had a rare gift for whimsy. What a wonderful man and dear friend.

A man that taught me so much...how to think, to create, to laugh, to argue politics and to see the world through different eyes.
Will miss you "Doktor" but you will always be with me in my heart.

Such a loss. What a Guy!! A true Gentleman! He once told me "Who said Golden Years? These are the Rusty Years" Navy man, Artist, Storyteller, Political, Sweetie, full of laughs, such pride in his family.
Said he Came to SE OH to raise the population. Hehe.. And they did!!
Can only smile thinking of Bob Borchard. I will so miss his greetings during the Christmas Season. He will be missed. What a lovely man!! There will never be another!
