Robert Brewer Obituary
He was born on Knob Creek and lived most of his life in Lawrence County, with the last 48 years spent in Loretto.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served a combined 27 years in the Army and National Guard, retiring as a captain.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Turner Brewer, and six children, Cynthia Williams, of Quincy, Calif., Chuck Brewer, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Jennifer Johnson, of Columbia, S.C., John Brewer, of Hazel Green, Ala., Amy Foster, of Mt. Pleasant, Tenn., and Adam Brewer, of St. Joseph, Tenn. He is also survived by five and 8/9ths grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
Bobby was employed at Weathers Hospital in Loretto for 27 years as a laboratory supervisor and, after Weathers closed, he worked at TVA for 10 years until his retirement.
A man of many hobbies and interests, he enjoyed his retirement. He loved to read and study the Bible at First Baptist Church in Loretto, Tenn. His summers were highlighted by trips to watch the Atlanta Braves, and he was happy to live to see the Tennessee Volunteers win a national championship, the Braves win a World Series, Peyton Manning win a Super Bowl and the Tennessee Titans attend one.
He possessed a keen mind his entire life and will be remembered for his love of a good argument or practical joke and his skill with trivia games.
Known for his sense of humor, he was fond of attributing his intellect to being born in the Volunteer State and proud to have never voted Republican.
His family will always remember him fondly whenever one of them shoots pool, watches Jeopardy! or grins during an argument. He loved life, and he had a very good time.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Loretto Memorial Chapel, with Mark Larue and Mahlon Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Loretto Memorial Gardens. Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to Loretto Public Library or Loretto High School baseball team.
