I have been struggling to find words to describe my memories of Bob...reading the information above has made me wonder if Bob knew my father, John Wanta when both were working for IBM in the 1960’s. I will come back to that shortly. I met his daughter Jeanmarie, in the early 1970’s when she and I were at Memorial High School. Jeanmarie and I spent time together on weekends and when I was at her house, I have memories of Bob and Kathie, often dressed up and on their way out The door. They always greeted me warmly upon my arrival. With all the kids and “chaos” in their home, there was so much love. I remember that every time Bob looked at Kathie, his face radiated love and warmth...it was impressive

Now, back to my IBM question...my father sold INM main frame computers, and since Bob was a sales manager, I wonder if my dad worked for Bob or if they knew each other then. I could have met the family sooner, but better late than never. Bob is definitely missed❤

I am sorry to learn of Mr. Brock's passing. I met him when I was a caseworker at the Mental Health and Retardation of Houston office back in the late 60's and early 70s. By chance I ran into him again at Luby's on Braeswood by the Medical Center and we had a few moments to chat. By now, he was a minister and I was a social worker at the Medical Center. As always, he was amiable and pleasant. Condolences to the family.

I was saddened to read of Bob's death. He and Kathie were stalwarts at The Spires where they lived for many years. They wrote a lovely farewell note when they moved to a retirement community. I enjoyed knowing them and offer condolences to Kathie and the family.

So many memories of shared time with Bob and Kathie on the tennis courts. Bob was competitive but always in a good way that made him much admired. Knowing him was a privilege.

Bob was a neighbor for several years on the same floor of a high-rise overlooking Hermann Park & the Medical Center. We shared a mutual enjoyment of baseball and I was honored to be able to share my season tickets with him to Rice baseball when UT came to town to play. It wasn’t long before a UT faithful would recognize the former star. But it wasn’t just a “fan” like me hanging with an “all-star” like him but it was a neighbor enjoying a pleasant time with a “good guy” who lived down the hall. Our sympathies are with Kathie & his entire family.

Since I was a child, he always made me feel relevant. He would kneel down, to eye level, and listen patiently with calming words of encouragement. He never brushed one aside or seemed too busy to listen. This continued throughout his life of comforting others. He was a lovely good and patient man with stalwart dear Kathie by his side and the hub bub of a vibrant family to brighten their days. Heartfelt prayers for all that grace will soothe your hearts. Bob is out in the fields with God now!
