Robert Brunston

Robert "Bob" Lewis Brunston, 66, of Hahira died Thursday, July 23 2009. Bob, son of the late Elmer "Red" and Edith Hutto Brunston, was born on September 4, 1942 in Hahira, Ga. He served over 21 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1980. Bob was active in the community as a participant and officer of Valdosta State University's Learning in Retirement program and as a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 4913. Bob was always up for a good game of cards or Braves baseball game and a cold beer. He was loved by many and took great pride in his family. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah M. Brunston and survived by four children, Robert L. Brunston, Jr. of Biloxi, Ms., Richard L. Brunston (Colleen) of Wilmington, N.C., Brenda K. Brunston of Hahira, and Diane Marie Brunston of Hahira; three grandchildren, Breeanna P. Dilldine, Ryan L. Brunston and Sarah M. Brunston; his mother, Edith Hutto Brunston of Hahira; two sisters, Vanessa Brunston of Hahira and Valerie Bayman (Jack) of Hahira; one brother, Ricky L. Brunston (Sherry) of Hahira and a large extended family. A prayer service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 6 p.m. followed by visitation until 8 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be held at 12:10pm Monday, July 27, 2009 at the church with Father Marvin LeFrois officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to St. John Catholic School at 800 Gornto Road, Valdosta, Ga., 31602.
