Robert Charles Burgess, 48, passed away in Anchorage, AK., following an extended illness and is now in the guiding hands of our eternal father.
He was born at Patrick Air Force Base on Mother's Day 1969 and passed on Father's Day 2017.
He is survived by his son, Dalton; his daughter, Meghan; and his friend and ex-wife, Goldie. He is also survived by his parents, Ronald A. and Mary Burgess, Bellville; brother, Ronald Jr.; numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.
Robert was predeceased by his grandparents, Rev. Robert and Dorothy Burgess, of Canastota, N. Y., and William and Nellie Lepp, of Bellville.
Robert grew up in the Bellville area, graduating from Clear Fork High School in 1988. He stayed in contact with many of his area friends. He enlisted in 1989 into the United States Air Force and retired in 2009. Robert was an Air Cargo Specialist/Rigger; he proudly served his country in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield and was deployed in various other situations all around the world.
He was a true patriot in every sense of the word, right down to his red, white and blue Christmas tree that he put up every year. Robert had a strong impact on all of those who knew him during and after his military service.
He was stationed at many bases during his military career: Little Rock Air Force Base (Ar.), Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Incirclik Air Force Base in Turkey, Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska, and Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.
After retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant and with many decorations and honors, Robert settled in the Anchorage, AK., area. His interests and hobbies included hunting, fishing and riding his four-wheeler with his son and friends.
On July 26 there was a private ceremony for family and special friends followed by interment at the National Cemetery located at Fort Richardson, Anchorage. The Rev. Mark S. Burgess conducted the services for his nephew.
