Robert Carlton Obituary
Greer
A. Robert Carlton, 88, died June 10, 2014 at Regional Hospice Home.
A native of Anderson, son of the late James F. and Iola Sanders Carlton, he was a 1942 graduate of Boys High School in Anderson, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and the Korean War, and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he previously served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He worked for three different automobile dealerships in Greer and Anderson and later was employed by Jack Smith Transmissions in Spartanburg as a transmission technician for approximately 35 years before retirement.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Smith Carlton of the home; one brother, Herman Carlton of Anderson; one sister, Minnie C. Jones of Anderson; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Bobbie Cole (Rudolph) of Anderson and Johnnie Fay Holbrook of Greensboro, North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Carlton of Greer; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Carlton of Easley; and a special friend, Mike Binette of Greer.
Mr. Carlton was predeceased by a son, Robert (Mark) Carlton, nine brothers, and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, conducted by Dr. Drew Hines.
Visitation will be held 7:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at The Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
The family request that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Greer Community Ministries, P.O. Box 1373, Greer, SC 29652.

It is with great sorrow, we say goodbye to such a Godly man, husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. We loved him dearly. Rest in Peace Robert. You will be missed. Sandra Carlton, Megan Carlton Lewis, Mason Carlton, Jaden Carlton and Harper Lewis.
