Mr. Carney was my Principle in Fort Smith, NWT. At Joseph Burr Tyrell High School. He was very prominent in encouraging me to continue with schooling and to pursue higher education during his tenure. A good, firm calm gentleman who encouraged me on several occasions as I wanted to leave school in grade 10. Jackie Poitras

Dear Verlie and family,
I am very proud to have known Bob and the entire Carney family. So many memories, Bob sitting in the kitchen, reading his newspaper in his T shrit and suspenders, saying something funny with that great grin on his face. We are all very blessed to have known Dr. Carney / Bob
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, God bless you all.

Dearest Verlie and Family:
My heart aches for you all. Bob was a great husband and father. I know you will all miss him terribly.
I will be here for you, Verlie, when you are ready. Regretfully, I will be unable to attend Bob's service.
My love and condolences to all of you.

To Verlie and family.
My heart goes out to you at this sad time. We go back a long way to our days in Britannia Beach. Was even at your wedding! I lost mine almost 7 yrs ago and it isn't easy. I heard from Pat Davis ( Hurley ) he wasn't well. My thought will be with you all over the holidays. Love Loreen(Philip) Wilson. [email protected]

Pat and I were saddened to hear of Bob's passing notwithstanding his ill health. He was a stalwart support during the years we struggled to keep St. Rose open and viable. He combined integrity, knowledge, and a good sense of humor. Verlie you have some good memeories. God be with you and your family and give you the strength to bear your loss.

Dr Carney was a gentle man and a gentleman who always saw the humour in ever situation. My fondest memory is of a 3 day helecopter tour we took with his Minister, Boomer Adair to all the provincial parks in Alberta. During "happy hour" each day Bob would regale us with stories of the North, working on the railroad and teaching - for which he had a special passion. Challenges were never a roadblock but an opportunity to try something different. He met failure - like an unsucessful bid to run for the Liberals in Tory Alberta - with a smile and a chuckle. Bob, don't call me Robert, will be missed by his wife, Verlie, his chidren and a whole bunch of grandkids, and family. He was a giant of a man in so many ways and I am proud to have known him.
