Robert E. Born January 31, 1970 in Erie, he is the son of Ronald D. Cross of Saegertown and Beverly A. Toner Hodgins of Corry. After high school, Bob immediately started working in construction. He primarily worked in road construction not only in this area, but also in Richmond, Va. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Bob was an outgoing person and quite a practical joker. He certainly lived his life to the fullest and always managed to smile even when experiencing difficult times. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, an infant brother Ronald Cross Jr., and a step-brother Michael J. Miller. Survivors include his father, Ronald D. Cross and his wife Sue of Saegertown; his mother, Beverly A. Hodgins and her husband Terry of Corry; four children: Robert E. Cross Jr. and his wife Samantha of Henderson, N.C., Jeremy M. Cross, Rebecca E. Cross, and Megan M. Cross, all at home. Also, three sisters and a brother: Robin Cross of Centerville and her fiancée Jim See, Richard Cross of Edinboro and his fiancée Charmin Majerik, Heather Schubert and her husband Scott of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jill Hepler and her husband Mike of Corry; a step-sister, Kristen M. Stanford and her husband Mike of Cambridge Springs; and many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home of Waterford on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. A private funeral service officiated by Rev. Emily Zeig of the First Presbyterian Church of Waterford will be held for the family. Burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie City Mission or the Humane Society. "The Road Trip" to Richmond..when we were Cruisin'Buddies goin'down to Corry & Nicole's when they lived there. Will never forget! Think I learned everything about "Paving" on our way down & all the roads that you had done! Made me laugh! Couldn't have had a more nicer person to ride with for 8 hrs! Now, you have paved your longest road..to Heaven. We are so blessed to have you part of our family! Peace be with you, my friend...you will never be forgotten!

Wrapping our prayers and hearts around your beautiful babies and family, Bob, and hoping you know how much we love you. You will have a permanent chair on our mountain, a fish at every trip, and you will always be part of the conversation, especially when we're laughing. We are so excited for the new life to come, but are heartbroken to see a dear friend leave so soon. Thank you for the memories. Now you can rest, but we know how much fun you're going to have there. You are forever loved and will be sadly missed.

One of the nicest and funniest guys I ever met. I remember him in school, always had a smile on his face and always had a joke to tell. The Lord aquired quite a jokester, and the world lost a hell of a man. Thoughts and Prayers go out to all his family and friends.
