Robert Davis was compassionate, smart, self-aware, funny, loving (not just to me but to everyone around him), and really just a great human being. And words don't do him justice. Every time I try, they just don't seem to capture him.

Every time we would see someone outside a grocery or store without much, he would point to them (with that classic Robert point) and ask, "Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? What can I get ya?" And every time he would go inside and get them something, and he would say words of encouragement as he handed it off.

To me, he viewed the world through rose colored glasses (well maybe the world minus LA traffic and drivers - he'd often point out how many drivers were "playing" and thought that Priuses especially were the worst). Most all food we tried was "bomb," and even the simplest things we would do (like make dinner or go see a movie) made him/us happy.

When he cooked he would often take over the whole kitchen and call himself "master chef" and compliment himself with every additional pan he put on the stove. He really was quite an excellent cook. He talked about opening a cart one day. He also talked about real estate as a career because he was excellent at sales. He was looking for the best industry to put his amazing personality to bat.

It's unfathomable to me that he won't get to do that. It will kill me every day, like it has already, that we didn't get more time (as I'm sure it does for everyone). We had our struggles but time solved most of them except this one. Now time is up, and I've come to really hate time.

Robert Scott Davis was amazing (in all senses of the word), and he should still be here. I know he would think this whole thing is "wild." And although I hate time now, I am grateful for ours. I know anyone who knew him would say the same. And as he watches over us, let's make him proud. Until we see each other again.

I am so sad that Rob has passed. He has been my son's friend since Elementary School. My son loved Rob - he always made him laugh. My younger son also had the pleasure of hanging out with Rob a few times. I recently saw a video of Rob dancing. Looks like it was taken not long ago. He was a good dancer, and that smile on his face ... so sweet. I'm sorry I missed out on getting to know him as a grown man. So many people cared deeply for him, and always will. The memory I will hold close to my heart is the face of that sweet little boy in Elementary School with the big eyes & curly hair, and the good looking man dancing in the video. May the good Lord bring comfort to all our hurting hearts.
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
- Jesus (John 14: 1-3)

Remembering Robert
Life can be to short, so fragile.
Try and keep yourself's young, stay agile.
We have just lost a gracious, caring young man..His leaving this world was definitely not part of the plan.
Always at the aide of a friend, giving his all to the very end.
I'll always be remembering Robert, for the rest of my days...Always with a kind thought, til they put me in my grave.
Weather in basketball or fishing he could land the Big One...Or he'd be taking your money in Texas Hold-em.
His Friendships and Relationships we're always about personalities and never about color...and all his Buds, he considered them his Brother.
Miss You my Buddy, Rest in Peace now!

I worked with Robert at BJ's in Pasadena. He was one of the funniest people there and I knew the shift would be interesting once I saw him walk in...but the real fun began when we all would get off work!! The memories we made and the laughs that we had made me feel like I had a second family, and he was a big part of that. His passing reminds me that truly the good die way too young and the sun shines a bit dimmer now that he is gone. Love you Robert, rest easy friend.
