Robert "Bob" Giles DeBoer

Bob DeBoer a devoted husband, father, and respected businessman passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 19, 2024 in Tampa, Florida. Bob was a friend to all that knew him and a strong believer of Christ. His life's work was a testament to hard work, dedication and a deep commitment to his Christian values. Bob never missed an opportunity to bring others to Christ.

He was born on June 7, 1946 to Walter and Bernice DeBoer in Eugene, Oregon. Later that year his family moved to Ashland, Oregon where his father Walt, founded Walt's Lithia Motors in Ashland on the Plaza. Bob loved the car business almost as much as he loved sports of all types throughout his life. He couldn't wait to play little league when he was 7 then went on to play basketball and baseball as the catcher in high school. Bob graduated from Ashland High School in1964 and continued his education at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon. During his freshman year, he met his best friend and wife of 58 years, Rebecca "Becky" DeBoer. He and Becky married on July 4, 1966 in Caldwell, Idaho. After graduation, Bob and Becky returned to Southern Oregon where Bob began his automotive career working at his father's dealership. Bob enjoyed a long career in the automotive industry in Medford, Oregon. He and Becky lovingly raised 3 amazing children during those years. Bob and Becky moved to sunny Tampa, Florida in 1991 where Bob began a new career in real estate. Bob was a natural at helping others to find their dream home. He was actively engaged in real estate until his death. Bob and Becky were members of the Lake Magdalene Church. Bob was a founding member of the North Hillsborough Republican Club. He served as a board member and was the current President of the club. He was also an elected precinct committee person for the Hillsborough County Republican Party. He worked tirelessly to elect upstanding community leaders in the Tampa area and volunteered on the Trump (2016/2024) campaigns.

Outside of his professional achievements, Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer, a skilled bowler and in his younger years slalom skier. Bob always loved being on or near the water. Bob and Becky enjoyed many days at the beach and long drives in search of the perfect sunset. Bob would never turn down a trip to the Clearwater Beach Frenchie's for a grouper sandwich or a cold beer at a Ray's baseball game. Bob was surrounded by many caring and supportive friends. He was always helping a friend with a car, a recommendation for a home repair or to lend a non-judgmental ear. He made lasting relationships with all everyone he met. Bob would do anything for his children. He was by their side to offer support and advice whenever possible. He loved his grandkids deeply and cherished every visit with them. Bob found endless joy in Christmas. He was known for his spectacular outdoor decorations, Christmas village, and thoughtful gifts.

Most importantly, Bob was focused on bringing others to Christ in the most respectful and genuine of ways. He would want all of us to enjoy each day and savor each moment with family and friends. His favorite verse to share Joshua 1:9. "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid nor dismayed, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

He is survived by his wife Rebecca, daughters Tammy and Lezlie, son Robert and seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also survived by his older brother Sidney DeBoer and younger brother Alan DeBoer and his beloved sister Nancy Barr. He is preceded in death by his sisters Janice DeBoer and Phyllis Hirons.

Bob's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His commitment to his family, his community and his values serves as an enduring example of a life well lived.

A Celebration of Life and Service will be held in his honor on December 22, 2024 at 3pm at Lake Magdalene Church, 2902 W Fletcher Avenue, Tampa FL 33618

Remember as kids when all the cousins would get together and Uncle Bob and Aunt Becky were always so warm and welcoming in their home

I know Robert through his son-in-law initially at a family social event. Him and his family was always gracious to us as we would use his home to gather in friendship. He was an easy man to talk to talk to and was and always made you feel the better for the conversation. I appreciated his love and passion of politics and attended one of the events he was part of. He will be missed. Love and prayers to you and your family. May God accept him into his Kingdom and find peace.

Best memory was him engaging with Rob and I by allowing a full sized Skateboard Ramp to be built in the backyard, such a fun gregarious Uncle, he will be missed.
