Robert J. "Bob" DeCristofaro, 58, of Braintree, died suddenly on Oct. 18, 2011. Devoted and loving husband, best friend and soul mate of 27 years to Cynthia P. (Mazeika) DeCristofaro. Proud, dedicated and loving father to Nicholas DeCristofaro. Loving brother to Paul DeCristofaro and his wife Ellen of Easton, Linda Marani and her husband John of Halifax, David of Middleton, NH and Joan Dunne and her husband John of Walpole. Devoted uncle to 24 nieces and nephews and 4 great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by several loving aunts and many cousins. Robert was predeceased by his parents James and Laura DeCristofaro of Quincy, his sister-in-law Lisa and his niece Ann-Marie. Bob was born and raised in Quincy and graduated from Quincy Vo-Tech. Bob was a true family man, spending many afternoons assisting and watching his son play sports and spending many weekends and vacations at his family vacation home in N.H. He was a man who loved traditions especially the annual trek to N.H. to cut down the Christmas tree. He enjoyed cooking outside on the grill/rotisserie or inside cooking a monstrous batch of tomato sauce with Cindy or cooking his traditional Saturday morning breakfasts. He was an avid life-long Bruins fan, was in a bowling league for over 30 years, was passionate about skiing and enjoyed golfing with his son or at charity events. Bob worked for the City of Quincy for over 30 years, employed as a Traffic and Signal Maintenance Technician/Electrician. He really loved his job and could and would talk to anyone about traffic lights. He could be seen before and after every Flag Day proudly and patriotically mounting the flags along the parade route. For decades, he was the man behind the annual Quincy Christmas light display wiring lights throughout the city and proudly making sure the lights came on perfectly as the crowds completed the lights-on countdown. Bob was a true friend to many and a hardworking man at work and at home. He rarely had a negative thing to say about anyone and anything and his compassion and willingness to help anyone in need will truly be missed by all who were privileged to know him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Quincy at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow. Donations in Bobs memory may be made to the Ann-Marie DeCristofaro Memorial Scholarship, 27 Guinevere Rd., North Easton, MA 02357.
