ROBERT A. "BOB"
Age 78, of Lexington, SC, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016, with his family by his side. He was born November 18, 1937, in Carnegie, PA, to the late Robert S. and Loretta J. Dempster. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joan C.; also two sisters, Loretta B. Dempster and Donna Loya. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957. After raising five successful children, he retired in 1997 from Williams Detroit Diesel-Allison after 40 years of service. He is survived by sons, Robert E. (Samantha) Dempster of Riverside, CA, Ronald A. (Barb) Dempster of Mount Airy, MD and Richard O. (Patricia) Dempster of Lexington, SC; daughters, Melissa A. (Doug Ketchum) Dempster of Ashton, MD and Amy D. (Jason) Gambrell of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Robert N. Dempster, Cody (Shani) and Justin Pynn, Nick, Jack and Ben Dempster, Tiffany Wagner, Craig (Tracy) Floyd, Lauren and Dylan Gambrell; and niece, Launie Dempster. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 18, 2016, at 1 p.m. under the gazebo at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road. The family will receive friends directly after the memorial service. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. at Zeddie's Party Shop, 203 Highway 378 West. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), www.vfw.org.
