KILGORE - Services for Mr. Robert Jack "Bobby" Dennis Jr., 55, of Kilgore, will be 4 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010, at Forest Home Baptist Church, with the Rev. Earl W. "Buddy" Duggins and the Rev. Dewayne Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Cemetery. Mr. Dennis passed away Friday, January 22, 2010.
Bobby was born October 4, 1954, in Houston, Texas. He was an operations manager for Nabors Drilling. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Bobby was retired from coaching football in Louisiana, Gilmer and Kilgore ISD from 1999 to 2005, where he was part of the 2004 4-A State Championship team.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Bobby had a true and honest appreciation for the beauty of the world and music. He never met a stranger and genuinely loved people. He will be remembered as a wonderful storyteller and great whistler. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, son and friend. Bobby will be remembered as one of a kind and will forever live in our hearts and memories.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Dennis of Kilgore; daughter, Tiffany Dennis of Tyler; sons, Robbie Dennis of Tyler, Tyler Dennis of Kilgore, McKinnon White of Kilgore and Kutter White of Kilgore; mother, Charlotte Dennis of Jacksonville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Janet Dennis of Jacksonville and Randy and Lydia Dennis of Katy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kyle and Wendy McKinnon of Kilgore; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Linda McKinnon of Kilgore; grandmother-in-law, Lu Hanks of Kilgore; nieces and nephews, Natasha Dennis, Reno Dominguez, Grady Dennis, Kylie McKinnon and Kara McKinnon
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Robert Jack Dennis Sr.; and grandparents, Marvin and Estelle Shaw and Jack and Edna Dennis.
Memorials may be made to the Kilgore Football Booster Club or to the Catch A Dream Foundation at www.catchadream.org.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. today, January 24, 2010, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
