Robert R. Drietz. Beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa passed away at Sanford Canby Medical Center on April 15, 2008, at the age of 82 years.Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Leo Catholic Church with Father Tony Hesse as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Birk Funeral Home in Canby.Robert was born December 25, 1925 to Walter and Della (Gladys) Drietz in Alta Vista Township, near Taunton, MN. He was united in marriage to Darlene A. Hoffman on June 1, 1953, in the St. Leo Catholic Church. Together they lived and farmed east of St. Leo for the past 52 years. Upon retirement in 1984, Robert enjoyed spending the winter months at his home in Florida. He enjoyed the horse and dog tracks, shuffle board, and morning coffee with friends.Although Bob accomplished much in the farming community, his family was his pride and joy and greatest accomplishment. We cherished fond memories of laughter over a good game of cards or checkers. Robert will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, optimism, and quiet faith. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather... he will be greatly missed.Robert is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Darlene; son, Robert L. (Diane) Drietz of St. Leo; daughter, Jackie J. (Mitch) Dawald of Cleveland, MN; three grandchildren: Tamara (Jason) Davis, Trish Drietz, and Joshua Dawald; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother.Blessed be his memory.
