In memory of
Cheron Hunter
December 1, 2007
Mr. Duncan was a teacher at Gresham Middle School when my sister and I attended. He and his family were also our across-the-street-neighbors for many years. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Mr. Dunkin always had a quirky sense of humor I always enjoyed. Those who were in class with me could probably remember him using his psychic powers to predict who would win the Friday night game or his unique thoughts about marriage. He wouldn't let me goof off too much in class, but we always had fun.

Like everyone else here has said, Mr. Dunkin was one of the best subs at JCIB and Shades Valley. One day he decided that he was going to sign up to teach the History of Irondale at SVHS. He said class would meet at the "Mountain Top Cafe" and we would have field trips to the Irondale Whistlestop Cafe. :) He always knew how to make all of us laugh and ease the stress of IB.

He would always introduce himself as "Robert D. Duncan, Substitute Teacher," thus never failing to humor us during class. He will undoubtedly be greatly missed, but forever remembered by former and current JCIB students.

It seems odd to think of substitute teachers as a huge influence on students, but in Mr. Dunkin's case, he was just such an influence. I cannot imagine having gone through IB without those wonderful days where he was in class.

Mr. Duncan was the greasest substitute teacher to grace the halls of Shades Valley and JCIB. He could put a smile on anyone's face. Everyone who knew him loved him and he will be greatly missed by all.

Mr. Duncan was the greatest! He always had something witty to say and made having a substitute teacher fun. When I think back on my years at IB, the days we had him were some of my favorite memories. He will be greatly missed.

Robert D. Duncan was amazing. He made biology worth going to, even though we didn't do anything when he was there. He would tell people that I rode the short bus and that I couldn't tell time. I know he will be greatly missed by myself, and the majority of the 2010 class.

This guy was by far the coolest substitute we had at JCIB. He had an incredible sense of humor and gave a lot of students joy. We always got excited when he was subbing, not because we thought he'd let us get out of working, but because he was a genuinely great person to be around even as a taskmaster. I'll miss Robert D. Duncan a lot. Rest in peace.

Mr Duncan made every class he subbed for fun. I think he was the most well loved substitute teacher in the history of SVHS/IB. And he will greatly be missed by those who enjoyed him for so many years. The memories of him and his sense of humor, will I'm sure, become part of the rich IB legend.

Mr. Duncan was a really funny man. I was a student at Shades Valley and my mom taught there. We both loved him. He was the first person my mom would go to for a sub. I really will miss him.

I will never forget this man. We were always joking and laughing and I loved seeing him around campus when I went to Shades Valley. He was an amazing and hilarious individual and I adored him.
