HUDSON FALLS - Robert "Bob" Durkee, 82, passed away suddenly on July 11, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on September 11, 1942, in Fort Edward, New York, Bob lived a life marked by service, dedication, and generosity.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and successful career with UPS that spanned 32 years. Never one to remain idle, Bob taught himself computer repair and networking-skills he put to good use working for the Hudson Falls School District and assisting local businesses as well as family and friends.

A devoted member of the Hudson Falls community, Bob generously gave his time and talents. He was a founding member of the Sandy Hill Days Committee and served as a Chairperson for an impressive 34 years. His commitment to public service also included time with the Hudson Falls Volunteer Fire Department, where he held the position of Past Assistant Chief, and served as Chairperson of the Zoning Board for the Village of Hudson Falls until the time of his death.

Bob's passions extended beyond his professional and civic contributions. He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, and was known for his love of motorcycle riding and working on computers. He also enjoyed watching old westerns and socializing with friends at "The Office," a favorite local gathering spot.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Jane, a loss which he never fully recovered from; his parents Herbert and Dorothy (Hoysradt) Durkee.; brothers William Durkee and infant Carl Durkee; sister-in-law Julie Durkee; and brother-in-law Bernard Brown.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Kevin Durkee (Kathy) of South Glens Falls and Melissa Durkee (Brenden O'Hara) of Cary, North Carolina; his grandchildren Kyle Durkee, Ryan Durkee, Cameron O'Hara, and, Caitlin O'Hara; his brother Herbert "Ricky" Durkee; sister Carolyn Brown; sister-in-law Marge Durkee; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob's legacy is one of unwavering generosity, deep-rooted community involvement, and heartfelt devotion to those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:30 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road in Schuylerville.
