Robert Edgar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2025.
Robert "Bobby" Edgar, 86, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Flagler Beach, Florida.

Born on January 25, 1939, in Paisley, Scotland, Bobby lived a life marked by craftsmanship, quiet strength, and deep devotion to those he loved. In 1960, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Stamford, Connecticut. There he began building a life rooted in hard work and integrity. A gifted home builder, carpenter, and cabinetmaker, Bobby's hands shaped not only wood but also the foundation of a meaningful life. In 1964, he became a Mason-an early testament to his commitment to community and tradition.

Later moving to Milford, Connecticut, Bobby met the love of his life, Deborah Dempsey Edgar. Their bond was immediate and enduring. Married for 33 years, they shared a partnership filled with mutual respect and quiet joy. In 1992, they relocated to Lawrenceville, Georgia, where they spent 18 years together. It was during this time that Bobby proudly became a U.S. citizen-a milestone that reflected his deep appreciation for the country he had come to call home.

Upon retiring in 2010, Bobby and Debbie moved to Palm Coast, Florida. For fifteen years they enjoyed the warmth of the sun and the rhythm of coastal life. In April 2025, they made their final move together to their forever home in Flagler Beach. Though their time there was brief-just four precious weeks before Bobby fell ill-it was filled with peace and love.

Bobby was a man of simple pleasures and steadfast values. He found joy in nature and solitude: fly fishing in quiet streams, tending his garden with care, or camping under open skies. He loved golf and soccer with equal passion and was rarely without a book in hand-an avid reader who valued knowledge as much as craftsmanship.

One of his greatest joys came from his beloved Golden Retriever Oliver. Rescued in April 2024 through Sophie's Circle Dog Rescue in New Smyrna Beach, Oliver quickly became an inseparable companion. Their bond was profound-a reflection of Bobby's gentle spirit and deep capacity for love.

Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Deborah Dempsey Edgar; his sister Anne Konecny (Frank) of Branford, CT; his son John Edgar of California; stepchildren Jason R Carroll (Sonya) of Chesapeake, VA; Jamie Lynn Lynes (Jody) of Naugatuck, CT; and Justin J Carroll (Elissa) of Cheshire, CT. He also leaves behind nieces Alisha Cantone, Laura Konecny, and Nichole Connery.

He was predeceased by his parents John M Edgar and Annie Caig Edgar; and by his sister Margaret Hamilton.

In honor of Bobby's memory-and his love for animals-donations may be made to Sophie's Circle Dog Rescue at 1800 Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach FL 32168 or online at sophiescircle.org.

May Robert "Bobby" Edgar's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well-lived-with humility, heart, and hands that built more than homes-they built legacy.

Although I only knew Bob for a short time he treated me like we had been friends for a lifetime. Bob being 82 was one of the strongest willed men I have ever known. Helping Bob and Deb sell their home was a blessing bestowed upon me and will be forever grateful. Bob and Deb both beautiful humans. God Bless you Bob!!!

Bob was a great man. I was so blessed to call him my friend. We met through our love of dogs. He will be sorely missed by everyone we knew him
