Robert Falco, Jr. Obituary

Visit the Legacy Remembers website to view the full obituary.
Bob Falco, age 63, passed away suddenly of presumed cardiac arrest on July 15, 2022. With teenage daughter, Julia, riding tandem, he safely pulled his motorcycle over on Route 16 in Milton Mills, NH, to repair a flat tire. There he collapsed and despite immediate 911 assistance, excellent bystander CPR, and quick police and EMS presence with continued efforts at Frisbee Memorial Hospital, Rochester, he never revived. Bob's family extends God's divine gratitude to those first responders and to the kind passersby who supported and beared witness with Julia.

Bob grew up in Churchville, Bucks County, PA, graduating from Council Rock High School, Class of 1977. He lived briefly in CA, before resettling in Perkasie and Schwenksville, PA. Bob studied engineering at Bucks County Community College and Drexel University while also working full-time. He then pursed an exciting technology and international, multi-decade, sales career at Nixdorf, Soft Switch, Lotus, and IBM. In the late 1990s, he and several business colleagues founded United Messaging, an enterprise email consulting and solutions company in Malvern, PA.

In 2002 Bob moved to Manchester, NH, where he continued in high tech sales for several years before transitioning to stay at home dad. During this time period he started Falco Photography where he photographed 100+ weddings while also often donating his time and camera skills. He later worked as an insurance agent at Liberty Mutual and freight loader at the Walmart Distrbution Center, in Bedford and Raymond, NH, respectively.

In recent retirement, Bob thoroughly enjoyed family time, exercising, listening to music and podcasts, and socializing in and tending to his condo outside space. He always engaged his keen intellect and passionate core beliefs in continued self-betterrment and new learning. He prior served as Sunday School teacher and committe member at Brookside Congregational Church. He was the current president of our Brook Hollow condo association board. He volunteered as room parent, event chaperone, and photographer at the kid's schools. He belonged to several car, motorcycle, and watch hobby groups. He could fix anything, be relied on for everything, parent skillfully, cook healthy and tasty meals, and make relaxing espresso and lattes. He was a fine son and brother. He will be greatly missed.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dorice Reitchel, and children Ollie and Julia Falco, ages 17 and 15 respectively; his parents Robert and Dolores Falco of Churchville, PA; his sister and brother-in-law Jill and Bill Redding and family, all of whom live in Lompoc, CA; his aunt Marian Brauckman and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis Long. He was a cherished son-in-law to Doris (Dodie) Skeffingon Reitchel and brother and uncle-in-law to many Reitchel family members. He had a previous marriage with Valerie (Falco) Mendelsohn.

The visitation will be on August 13, 2022, beginning at 10:00 am, followed by the Celebration Of Life Service at 11:00 am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Masks required. For those unable or unwilling to mask, please arrive at 9:45 am and gather at the funeral home's front covered patio.

In lieu of flowers, please donate for "landscaping improvements in memory of Bob Falco" to Brook Hollow Condo Association, c/o New Star Properties, 183 Mammouth Road, Londonderry, NH 03053; to Brookside Congregational Church UCC, 2013 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03104.

Bob meant so much to so many. To me, he was one of my dearest friend's life companion, and they complimented each other perfectly. He was my family's first photographer, and I treasure the years of Christmas card photos Bob took of my family- refusing proper payment for his professional talent and time - instead suggesting a charitable donation to a community organization in need. He was also our Book Club Papa- always the most welcoming host. Bob greeted the book club crew with a warm smile, delicious home cooked food, great conversation, and a glass of fine wine. Never flashy or overbearing, Bob just made us feel AT home, not just in HIS home. It's just who he was. Always willing to share his thoughts, offer his help, and support our little book club in any way he could. For Dorice because he loved her and everything that matters to her. For us. Thank you Bob. You will be dearly missed.

I remember when Bob first caught your eye more than 20 years ago, Dorice. You shared that you had met a handsome man with glasses (your type, for sure) and that his name was Bob Falco. We all loved his name before we met him (sounded like a movie star's name) and, when you first introduced us, we immediately knew that he was "the one."
Over the last two decades, I have so enjoyed watching you two do the dance... The way that you expressed your love for each other in sweet and simple ways... The space that you gave each other to persue your passions... The gratitude and enjoyment that you expressed in sharing and elevating your common interests and values. A genuine, practical, thoughtful, loving couple; that was Dorice and Bob.
It is unfathomable that your journey together has ended so soon, but yours is a love story that will show itselt in beautiful ways until the end of time.
I am so thankful that he shared his life with you, Dorice. And I feel so very blessed to have called him my friend for all these years. His March birthday will remain on my calendar... the movie star... the one and only, Bob Falco. XOXO

Condolences on your loss.

Bob and I were colleagues at Soft-Switch. He made my job easier - his expertise, energy and positive attitude. We had many excellent adventures.

I later had the pleasure of staying with Bob, Dorice and their growing family during a few New England trips. Great hospitality, good conversation and Bob always passed along some of what he had recently learned.

I will miss him.

My heart and prayers go out to Dorice, Ollie and Julia and to Bob´s whole family and community. I never met Bob but had the delightful pleasure of welcoming First Ollie and then later Dorice and Julia to Horton Center UCC church camp as the director there. I´m sending you all healing prayers as you grieve and process this sudden, devastating loss. Shalom my friends, shalom.

I lost my best friend of 50 years, and my grief is almost inexpressible. In the beginning, way back in 1972, we met over CB radio - our parents gave us our first CBs for Christmas. We quickly became best friends with numerous common interests.

We both passed our ham radio license tests in high school. We hopped up our cars, we rode trail bikes, and we even became pilots together. One of my fondest memories was when Bob, who cultivated an interest in photography in high school, took an aerial photo of me flying my dad´s airplane.

Bob was my co-pilot on many trips, manning the controls for hours. He took just a few formal lessons and qualified to solo after the absolute minimum of flying lessons. Bob rented himself a Beechcraft Sport, packed his photography bag, and flew out from Trenton airport over the central New Jersey farmlands where I was circling. He did his best to snap a few photos (see below), but it was very bumpy that day. Only one photograph survives, and to me it´s both precious and emblematic of just how intelligent and talented Bob was.

Bob was an exceptional autodidact, the kind of guy who was curious about everything and pursued knowledge and skills on his own. At the age of 16, I watched Bob crawl under and remove the transmission of his neighbor´s Subaru, in his dad´s garage (using his Christmas gift- a Craftsman tool set). He could read a service manual for any mechanical object, and fearlessly take it apart, fix it, and put it back together - something I rarely would risk myself!

We were essentially inseparable from adolescence until we both got married in the mid-1980s. Bob was my best man, and my daughter´s godfather.

For the last 30 years, I´ve lived in CA but would come to Bucks twice a year, and Bob would always drive down to visit for a day. We talked regularly about politics, investing, guns, technology, our families, and, of course, sports cars!

Bob drove his prized Alfa-Romeo out here last August, where he was going to stay at my place. A wildfire broke out nearby, we lost our electricity, and Bob got right back in his car and drove down to LA to see his sister.

Last fall we spent a day touring Bucks County, walking the campus of Bucks County Community College where Bob took a photo of the two of us. It´s here on his FB page.

We last spoke on June 29th for 90 minutes, when he was driving home from his Council Rock class reunion at Tyler State Park.

I wish I could have one last chat...

p.s. I submitted this text together with four pictures, but somehow the text doesn't appear along with them; the photos are separately posted - sorry

Sending all our love to Dorice, her children, and the Falco family. My favorite memory of Bob was at our wedding when he asked Marc´s 80-year old grandmother to dance. I don´t think she had many occasions to dance and the joy on her face was heartwarming. Bob was incredibly kind and thoughtful. Dorice, biggest hugs from Marc and the kids and me.
