Robert Faxon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 23, 2025.
Robert Alan "Chip" Faxon To a sailor, "Red sky in morning sailors take warning". Under a colorful December 14, 2025 morning sky, Robert Alan (Chip) Faxon's vessel docked at Heaven's port. Chip passed peacefully in the presence of his favorite "Fox and Friends" anchors. Born September 19, 1934 to Howard and Eleanor Faxon of Pawlet Vermont, a place Chip cherished.

At a young age, Chip along with three brothers, Malcom, Ken and Tom were placed in Kurn Hattin, a place they spent their childhood. Learning work ethic as a child, passing with his boots on, this tough Vermonter never stopped working. Chip could often be seen at Frank W Whitcomb maintaining the grounds while also making friends there.

In 1952 enlisting in the Navy, Chip attended the Naval Training Academy and then assigned to the U.S.S. Charles R. Ware that took him to many Mediterranean ports. Being very proud of his Naval service, Chip always wore a Naval insignia ball cap.

From the Navy enrolling in the National School of Meat Cutting in Ohio, a family trade. Chip turned meat cutting into an art form. Owning and working at local stores, Chip was a talented and sought after butcher. Tom his brother, can still be found locally meat cutting.

Being an avid reader and well-versed in history, Chip had a quiet brilliance. Once finished with books he would bring them to veteran related centers. Chip's interests also carried into stonework, gardening, cooking antiquing and giving to others, also being a recreational scuba diver. Chip's kindness you could often find on friend's porches, either in form of food he cooked or things he found at recycling. Chip was kind and unique also with a great love of animals. Age did not stop Chip, especially from telling a joke or being a rascal.

Chip leaves behind a family he loved, wife Kathy of almost 40 years, children, Doug, Sue and Ed Faxon , Wade and Jesse Rogers, grand and great grandchildren. A celebration of life will follow in the Spring.
