I am 52...I had Mr. Fumerton at Brookfield over thirty years ago...I am extremely saddened to hear of his passing...I still remember his kindness and his true passion for baseball...I remember something about a back yard fence and the Expos, though I am Red Sox fan..He was the BEST math teacher ever....my condolences to his family ...not many teachers left an impression like he did....a true loss

I only just heard that Mr. Fumerton passed away, and was so very sad to hear the news. Mr. Fumerton was my homeroom teacher, and my math teacher at Colonel By S.S. in the eighties, and he was by far one of my favourite teachers. He was so relaxed and patient with his students, and had a fantastic sense of humour. Mr. Fumerton was a highlight of my years at Colonel By. He will be sorely missed as a great teacher, and a wonderful person. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Dearest Mrs. Jill Fumerton, and Ms. Carrie Fumerton, all friends and all loved ones.
My heart goes out to all who knew Mr. "Bob" Fumerton. I had the great pleasure of having him throughout my years at Colonel By Secondary School as both a home-room teacher and math teacher. He was by far one of my favourite teachers and a great friend. He truly cared about us. His tremendous influence and encouragement live forever. I still have all my old Algebra notes with his humourous rhetoric from the 80s. There's not a day that goes by in which I'm not using some of the basic geometry that he taught us. What I loved about Mr. Fumerton was that he could bring complex problems down to a level we could understand. To this day, I treasure the times we talked about '67 Mustangs and '57 Chevs after Algebra Class. As long as there are cars, baseball, football, arm-wrestling, and designing with 3D Math, Mr. Fumerton will be fondly remembered. My sympathy for everyone's great loss.

Jill and Carrie,
Our hearts go out to both of you at this time. For those of us who had the pleasure of knowing Fum in our lives on a part time basis, his wit and outlook on life filled us with laughter and joy. For you to lose someone like Bob from your daily life is more than I can imagine. Our sympathies to both of you and your extended family.
My memories of Bob are many and precious, but our shared love for Baseball and the Expos was the strongest tie that we shared. The backyard fence was a classic example of his passion.
After years of working together at Colonel By I can honestly say he was one of the larger than life teachers who made education a more human profession. He will be missed always.

Jill and Carrie,
My deepest sympathies for your loss. My heart goes out to your family and all of Fummybear's friends and loved ones. As my math / algebra teacher 4 times at Colonel By High School, and of similar sense of humour and wit, we seemed enjoy the time spent together in the classroom. He was a great man and a great teacher. Everyone who had known Robert has been blessed with his kindness. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear about "Mr. Fum" passing. He was an amazing teacher. He made me enjoy math class instead of dread it like I did every other year. My thought and prayer are with his family at this sad time

My dear Jill
I am shocked and dismayed to hear of Rob's passing. You and Rob were two of the first people to extend friendship to Chris and I when we moved to Ottawa so many years ago. I have such great memories of those times and the many laughs shared around your kitchen table. I will always remember Rob for his humour, keen intelligence, witty phraseology, and true friendship. His time came too soon. What a loss for all who knew and loved him. My heart goes out to you and Carrie. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you, both. Take care my friend.

I was really shocked and dismayed to hear about Mr Fumerton's passing. He taught me Grade 13 Algebra in 1988/89 and was without a doubt the teacher who had the single biggest influence on my life throughout my school and university days. He helped me develop a love of math and more importantly discover the confidence I needed to do what I really wanted to do with my life.
Please accept my strongest condolences and warmest thoughts.

Dear Jill and Carrie,
We were all very sorry to hear about Bob's death. He was a great friend to the Boicey family.
I have so many great memories of him. He always made things fun and I always enjoyed his visits and listening to him talk. My favourite Bob memory was when Carrie and him showed up at our door dressed as pirates because Robbie thought he looked like Smee from Hook. It still make me laugh to this day.
Bob was such a caring person and always found a way to look after us when we were going through difficult times. He made the passing of my grandparents so much easier to bear.
And, boy, did he ever make a mean dessert! He taught me that grandmas weren't the only ones who knew how to make pies (a lost art these days).
Take comfort in the memories and in knowing that your many friends and family are here for you in this difficult time, like Bob has always been there for them. He will be greatly missed.
Sincerely,
Colleen

I would like to express my condolences to you, Jill, and to all of your relatives on Bob's unexpected passing away.
I've known him ever since he started teaching at Colonel By where I often enjoyed his humorous and relaxed outlook; in fact, I've only seen Bob mad once - when the Carleton Board towed away his car from the parking lot.
His sudden demise leaves me quite shocked; I share in your grief and sorrow.

Hearing of Fum's death was cause for great sadness. He was one of the very special people at CB during the 80's. He struck me as a truly free spirit and I loved the way that he could be irreverent without being disrespectful. I don't think I've ever met anyone with more "twinkly" eyes. They always seemed to hold a smile. Fum made a difference. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones.

I am so sad to hear of "Fum"'s way-too-early passing. He was a witty, intelligent and friendly man, and left a huge positive impression with me...by far my favorite teacher (and friend) in my time at CB. To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope it gives you comfort to know that he has touched so many so deeply and stayed in our hearts for all this time. (I graduated from CB in 1984, and he has reamained a special influence to me to this day!)
Thank you, FUM!

Jill: I wish you and Carrie and all your family and friends all the best at this sad time. I spoke to Rob only three weeks ago at the Redwoods front lobby and he was so thoughtful on how my mom was doing in her new residence. He had a way about him and his warm kindness always to take an interest in who he knew..I am glad to have many fond memories always. God Bless.

Dearest Jill & Carrie, I am profoundly sad to hear of Rob's untimely passing. He was a guy who was in a humble yet joyous way, larger than life. I have many fond memories of times in Ottawa, from the time Carrie was a toddler to now a mature, & ambitious young woman. Carrie, your Dad was extremely proud of you, you are indeed his great joy- despite the pranks you pulled on him!! And Jill, to have your best friend & true love now in another 'realm'- well, it's true he didn't mind being the first at anything. You & Rob will always be an 'item'. My love to all of you. Alyson

Jill and Carrie, there are no words that can express how deeply sorry we were to hear of your loss. Whenever I think of Rob, all I see is his great smile that beamed across a room and how he had this infectious giggle. I will always hold those thoughts in my mind. Our family holds you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
