Robert Glee Goins

Robert (Bob) G. Goins, 94, passed away on June 30, 2025 in Shreveport, LA.

Bob was a native of Okmulgee, OK and the firstborn son of Rev. Otto and Wilma Goins.

After high school, Bob served in the US Air Force. He was stationed at the Amarillo Air Force Base in Amarillo, TX and deployed to South Korea during the Korean War as a Military Policeman. Following his military service, Bob graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. During his business career, he completed the Executive Program in Business Administration from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

Bob began his career with International Paper (IP) in 1958 in Camden, AR. He held many engineering, production, and management positions at IP in Mobile, AL, Bastrop, LA, Panama City, FL, and Pine Bluff, AR. Using his exceptional skills to manage people and keen insights in the process of making paper, Bob became a problem solver as Mill Manager in Bastrop, LA, Mobile, AL, and Texarkana, AR. With wit, integrity, and a hands-on approach, he created a fair, productive workplace that broke records for IP and blessed the employees and communities where he led. In 1990, Bob served as the United Way Campaign Chairman for Southwest AL. He was an accomplished baseball player, enjoyed raising cattle, and loved music, singing hymns with all of his heart.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Lori Caskey (Brian) and Lisa Rogers (Bud), his four grandchildren, Lauren Bokesch (Adam), Seth Caskey (Blake), Grant Rogers (Kathryn), and Anna Gibson (Kendall), and six great-grandchildren, Linden Bokesch, Parker and Wylie Caskey, Brooks and Harrison Rogers, and Ann Sibley Gibson.

Bob is also survived by three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be laid to rest in Okmulgee, OK near his parents and other relatives.
