MAYSVILLE — Robert Smith Grable died on April 9, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
He was born on October 23, 1949, in Washington, PA to John Wise and Doris Ann Grable.
He had been a resident of Johnson Mathers Nursing Home and the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation facilities since 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Elaine (Cordray) Grable; a brother, John Thomas Grable, of Washington, PA; a nephew and niece, John Walter and Sheryl Grable of Pittsburgh, PA; a brother-in-law, George Cordray of Maysville; a sister-in-law, Vickie Cordray, of Maysville; a foster sister-in-law, Sally Chase of Lexington, KY; a nephew and niece, Randy and Julie Cordray and a great niece and nephew, Becca and Zachary Cordray of Richmond, KY; a nephew and niece, Dr. Anthony and Karley Cordray of Las Vegas, NV.
Robert held both a Bachelor and Masters degree in elementary education and guidance counseling from Morehead State University.
He was the director of the Adult Activity Center in Cynthiana for eight years.
He taught a year at the MMI Junior School.
He was a founding member of the Cynthiana/Harrison County Trust, Inc., serving as treasurer for many years.
He was a regular volunteer at the Cynthiana/ Harrison County Museum until he entered the nursing home.
Visitation will be at Ware Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with rosary recitation at 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church.
Graveside will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick Cemetery, 1890 A Street, Maysville, KY 41056.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cynthiana/ Harrison County Trust, Inc., P.O. Box 557, Cynthiana, Ky 41031 or to St. Edward School, 107 N. Walnut St., Cynthiana, KY 41031.
