Began his final journey peacefully at home in West Sacramento surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by his parents George and Gladys Greenhalgh and brother Richard. Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Brenda Greenhalgh, cherished children Amy, George and Annin Greenhalgh (Kyle Sirman), Jezikka Sullivan (Josh), Tish Palamidessi (Christopher), Joseph and Timothy Avalos and Arron Clark (Blair). Loving grandfather to Ethan, Christian and Gabriela. He also leaves behind his niece Shamryn Cole (son Theo) and nephew Justin Greenhalgh (Audra) in addition to his sisters-in-law, Jeanine Suttie, Patricia Bergdahl, Dee Kelley, and many family and friends.
Bob graduated from UCLA in 1969 and followed in his father's footsteps in the field of Public Health. His early career was spent in the Los Angeles and Mendocino County Health Departments. In 1980 he joined the California Department of Health Services, retiring in 2003 as an Environmental Program Manager. His contributions to California's health programs throughout his career were invaluable. In retirement he continued his dedication to public health which enabled him to travel the world with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and most recently worked with the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department.
Bob-O loved the Beach Boys, travelling and telling jokes wherever he went. He never met a stranger and was larger than life, which he spent in the moment only stopping to reflect on how blessed he truly was. He adored his children, was devoted to his family and was a father figure to so many.
A tribute to Bob's life will be held at the River Cities Funeral Chapel located at 910 Soule Street in West Sacramento on October 8 at 11:00 am. Memorials preferred to Kaiser Hospice, 2025 Morse Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95825 or the West Sacramento Moose Lodge.

Bob,
We always got along well and I am sorry that I missed your funeral. First off, I do not do well at funerals or hospitals. Second, the situation personally did not call for me to be there but nonetheless, you are missed and hopefully, you and God are together.

Bob was a complicated person at times but he loved life. I know that if you needed someone to help you Bob would be there. Bob liked to be the life of the party and he always had the latest jokes and he always liked to have a drink in his hands. No one had a bigger smile than Bob and he has been and will be missed.

I have been Bob's insurance agent for many many years and he was my all time favorite client! He always made me laugh everytime we spoke. He gave me some great advise on raising kids and how to have the most fun life possible. I always thought how lucky his family was to have such a great husband and father as Bob. He will be missed dearly! My prayers are with the family.

My thoughts and prayers go to Bob's family, I was so shocked to hear that the world has lost Bob. I met Bob 28 years ago, I had the pleasure of being his friend, and later even worked with Bob. You will always have a special place in my heart.

I met and worked with Bob through our careers in environmental health and am so glad that I had the opportunity to get to know him. It had been many years since I spoken with him but he was always someone that I looked forward to seeing at the annual CEHA conference. I'll miss his jovial and loving personality. Bob showed so many people how to embrace and enjoy life. He brings a smile to my and many faces. I bet he could be a stinker at times, but that was his essence. He lived life to its fullest. He broadened so many peoples lives and smiles. He is a positive influence to many that will take his memories into the future.

Bob was a good buddy. You could talk to Bob for only five minutes and walk away feeling that you made a friend. I apreciated his great sense of humor, and on occasion I was the victim of one of his practical jokes. I will always remember how he loved to laugh and his ability to make others laugh as well. It was a real honor to have met Bob. My sympathies to his family and friends.

Brenda and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this very difficult time. Like this candle, Bob would light up a room with his outgoing personality and seemingly endless jokes. He was an exceptional teacher, leader, and a shining example for all of us in environmental health and food safety. Bob was a very dear friend. I met him at Tish's wedding and he was so warm and outgoing, I didn't know him well, but my brother Chris has said such wonderful things about him for years.

It was an honor to know Bob. In public you always had to be on your toes because you just didn't know what or when he might say something to embarrass you. I thank God for the laughter and smiles Bob generated.

My family and I spent a lot of time with Bob and his kids years ago. His kids, George and Anna, were friends of mine and my brother. I remember Bob being so funny and warm. He always made us feel welcome. He will be missed madly.

Sorry to hear about Bob......it never is good to hear about a close friend or relative who passes on. Corrie and I send our condolences.....you could always count on Bob being the life of the party....on having a good joke that you couldn't tell out in public (but he did anyway). Bob was always a strong support for me in my environmental health career. He was a mentor to me (and many others) and had my back in difficult times. He told great stories (both clean and dirty) and could always make me laugh. He was an all around good guy.

Bobbo took me under his wing in the earliest days of my career and showed me what it meant to be passionate for one's life and profession.

Brenda, Our deepest sympathy to you and all your family in the loss of your beloved Bob. We were his neighbors in Downey were he grew up. We loved him and all the Greenhalghs. He was special to our family. He introduced us to the Beautiful Lake Tahoe, got me involved in Little league baseball, Held the football for me to kick at the local Jr. high and said You need to continue to kick with you leg. I took Bob's advise and will continue to Thank him for the rest of my life. What a wonderful friend to grow up with.
