Robert Paul Guilbault, Jr.

Paul and I met in eighth grade at Jesuit High School, September 1959. We became friends through a common one, George Gibbs. After high school, our paths diverged. Intermittently over the years, we would see each other, either at a JHS reunion or, serendipitously, at a lakefront restaurant. No matter the occasion, what i was most impressed by, was Paul's sincere recognition in his eyes and his welcoming and engaging smile. I am sure that I was no exception to this kindness. May he rest in peace.

I was fortunate to know Paul and work with him at Shell in New Orleans and in Houston. He was always easy to communicate with and reach solutions that were best for the overall good. Paul had a very good sense of humor and used it effectively to make his points. In 1987 we moved from New Orleans to Houston and it turned out that we were located just one block away from Paul & Lynn. We enjoyed dinners at each other's home and became good neighbors and friends. Living in Mandeville now, the last time I saw Paul was just a few years back at Starbucks on a Saturday morning where I was a regular. I looked up and in walks Paul's son, Dr. Paul Guilbault, and Paul was with him. I didn't recognize him right off with that ballcap. I will always remember Paul by that morning meeting and exchanging a few laughs with a guy who had plenty to give.
