ROBERT BURTON
Mr. Robert Burton Hackett, age 79, died Friday, July 14, 2017, in Rock Hill, SC. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass starting at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Mr. Hackett was the son of the late Raymond J. Hackett and Mary Virginia McDonough Hackett. He graduated from Duquesne University and was a US Army veteran serving during the Berlin Wall crisis. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, Rolling Hills Country Club in Monroe, NC, Sunset Country Club in Sumter, SC, the Panera Coffee Club, and retired from Cooper Industries after 28 years. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Kathleen Lavery Hackett; son, Kirk Hackett (Lorrie) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Deneen McSwain (Eric) of Charlotte; brothers, Raymond Hackett (Helen) of Aurora, CO, Patrick Hackett (Dorothea) of Duboise, PA; sisters, Terry Byrne (Pat) of Pittsburgh, Mary Pat Mariani (Michael) of Pittsburgh, Peggy Venning of Beaufort, SC; and four granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.

We know that Burt loved the Lord and attended daily Mass for many years. We refer to Scripture
of 2 Timothy 4: 7 - 8: " I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.
From now on a merited crown awaits me . . ."
We can be sure that his kind and gentle demeanor
has earned him his crown. May the angels welcome him to paradise.
