ROBERT "BOB" HOLBERT

BAY CITY - Robert Winfield "Bob" Holbert, 78 of Bay City died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 in Bay City. He was born Sept. 26, 1928 in Harlingen, Texas to the late Ecco Martin Holbert and Robert Cassius Holbert. Bob had graduated high school in La Feria, Texas and attended college at Edinburgh Junior College, Edinburgh, Texas. He married Betty Lou (Betsy) Alexander, July 15, 1948. They were blessed with two children, John Robert and Barbara; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Nor-mann, Stephen Thomas, Tommy Shultz, Misty Fernandez, Andrea Holbert English, and Alexandra Holbert. Also by two great-grandchildren, Gianni Fernandez, and Carsen En-glish.
Bob was in business for seven years in the citrus fruit nursery and farming industries with his father. He then went to work for Union Carbide Corporation, Seadrift, Texas operations and four years in Cubatao Sao Paulo, Brazil. He returned to the U.S. and retired after 12 years at Seadrift Pipeline Corporation offices and storage facility, Clemville, Texas. He retired after 31 years of service with Union Carbide, later purchased by Dow Corporation.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cassie Jean Adams; grandchild, Joseph Winfield Holbert, and son John Robert Holbert.
Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bay City, serving as deacon, elder, and member of the choir.
The family received visitors 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. John-Nelson Pope officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and special friend Roy Hitzfeld. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery. Arrangements by Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, 979-245-4613.
