SeSe and Family,
As a Navy Classmate and friend I extend my sympathies to you and the family. Marilyn and I join you in remembering his great contributions to the education of young people he knew. Also, I know other members of U.S. Navy Signalman Class 11-A-45, Bainbridge, Maryland will remember him fondly.

Dear Holstead Family,
Some of my fondest memories are from my days at THS. To me Coach Racer epitomized the strength and determination that made Tallulah High a place to be proud of. I often think of him and his sheer will to excel that he projected. I will always remember him as the man who would settle for nothing less than the best in everything he touched....including hundreds of lives. Thank you "Coach". May God bless his family and us all in our loss.

Dear Lillie, SeSe, and all of the Holstead family,
We only met "Coach" once, when Thomas was very small and he and SeSe visited Lillie from Louisianna. Thomas adored him instantly, and we all agreed that he and all the Holsteads were pretty special folks.
We are privileged and honored to have known him, even so briefly.

Lillie,

I'm sorry that I couldn't be there for the services. You and your mom have become a memorable part of my life. I have been thinking and praying for you guys. I didn't know your dad, but from the articles and the stories that you have shared with me, I know that he was a great person and a very positive influence on your life. Take care and we'll talk soon.

Lillie and the rest of the ladies,
I was so sorry to hear about your loss. I will never forget Lillie racing back from Boston one Labor Day weekend because her daddy was sick. I graduated in 1995. I guess you were very lucky to have all of these extra years, although it might not seem that way now. You are all in our thoughts.
Love,
Missy & Josh

My memories of "Coach" go back to my band days at Tallulah High in the 60's. Those state championship games then were the greatest. He would tell the band to be off the field by the end of "half time" because his team was coming back on without stopping for anyone. Even though I never played football for him, he always remembered my name when he saw me. That confirmed my belief in his dedication to young people. "Coach" also honored my family when he attended my Father's funeral in '89. Even though I cannot be there with you today, my thoughts and prayers are with all the family.

Dear Holstead family,
I am Kathleen Herzog from Murfreesboro, TN.- a Louisiana native.
I had the pleasure of your father's company only three times, when I visited my dear friend, Bootsie Rosenzweig at the Olive Branch in Tallulah. Racer was so charming. The two of them were a pair of lovely Southern gentlemen. We would sit in the ice cream parlor and tell stories or stroll around the garden. My condolences to you.

To the Holstead family: Please accept my sincere sorrow for your loss of a dearly loved one. I was a student of Coach Holstead at Plaquemine High School. I graduated in 1956. Coach Holstead was a role model for me. As an adult, I considered him a dear friend and consulor. May God's love heal your sorrow. May the prayers of friends ease your huring. May God's peace replace your heartache with warm and loving memories.

Dear Family of Coach Holstead,
No one there is likely to remember me, but I went to Tallulah H.S. as band director the fall of 1955 when Racer started there. His methods were impressive, his dedication tremendous, and I greatly appreciated his friendship and good will. Truly his accomplishments leave a legacy in Tallulah that can never be equalled. May God grant you all peace and comfort as you bid this great loved one farewell.
