Bob & I met flying Interplast trips together... and cemented a friendship that lasted to this day. What a guy. He'll be missed by many - especially me.

Dear Amber, Jodie,family & friends:

It is with deep sorrow that I send to Bob's loved ones my deepest sympathy.

It was in the late 1980's that my son Jeff began taking flying lessons from Bob. Bob not only taught him to fly safely and professionally, but he shared his love and enthusiasm too. Bob became a close personal friend with both Jeff and his Dad. He found the perfect plane for them to purchase and then helped outfit it with the latest equipment and electronics.

Bob also helped me with the purchase of my first PC. But, the event that will keep Bob close in my heart forever happened on Labor Day weekend in 1991. Bob and Jeff were flying side by side(Bob in the twin engine, that Jeff would take his multi-engine test in, and Jeff in the Piper Arrow that they would fly home from Salinas in)something that they had never done before.They were over the coastal mountains, west of San Carlos,when Jeff's engine "failed". Below them were the dense trees, but Bob recalled having passed a small clearing aways back and he calmly talked Jeff into turning around and readying the plane for landing by skimming the tree tops and putting the plane down in an uphill field.

Similtaneously, he called for rescue crews, and ambulance to get to Jeff as soon as possible. Once Bob saw Jeff get out of the plane he flew back to San Carlos, jumped in his car and headed for the crash site to secure the plane. This incident started about 7pm and around midnight Bob showed up at Stanford Hospital, where Jeff had been flown in a helicopter, with a broken back and multiple head lacerations. In the following days Bob took care of all the necessary work that needed to be done, so that Jeff's Dad and I could be with him. There is no doubt in our minds that Jeff is here today, because of Bob's skill and expertise in emergency management.

To Bob's family, my sincere condolences.



Bob and I were great study buddies at Peninsula. We spent many hours at my house pouring over the law and just talking. He gave the best back rubs at 4 AM when we were finally exhausted after another study session.



He also flew me to Santa Barbara to visit with my daughter because I couldn't drive past King City without getting a ticket.



He will be missed by all whose lives he touhced.
