I was a classmate of Bob's a long time ago. I am certain that Bob and I have not spoken since our graduation from medical school in the spring of 1978. That fact is most assuredly my loss. Even with the passage of so many years and with no intervening connections to serve as reminders, I still recall moments with Bob at Kirksville.
When I read his obituary, I was not surprised to learn of his many successes in both professional and personal endeavors. His great intellect and his sense of humor would have been immediately obvious to everyone he met.
I was saddened to learn of his passing not because of a long lost friendship, but because I am certain the world was better with Bob in it.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family for their loss. Hopefully, your certitude of all the people he helped, all the good he did and all the love he shared, will help temper your heartaches until the very short time when your next wonderful memory of him will arrive and make you smile.
