Robert Jimenez, Sr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 23, 2024.
With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Moreno Jimenez, Sr., who peacefully departed on February 19, 2024, at the age of 90, with his devoted daughter by his side. Born on October 25th, 1933, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, Robert's journey led him to San Jose, CA, where he flourished.

Robert's professional life was marked by dedication and achievement, notably as a USDA Meat Inspector in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, where he served with distinction until his retirement in the early 1990s. Even in retirement, Robert's spirit of service shone brightly as he volunteered at the Cathedral of Faith, contributing his time and skills to various projects and illuminating Mass celebrations as a lighting projector.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Robert embraced life's joys with gusto. An accomplished athlete, he dominated the diamond as a pitcher in adult fast-pitch softball leagues for many years. A fervent supporter of local sports, Robert's cheers echoed for the 49ers, Giants, Warriors, and Sharks. Yet, amidst his active pursuits, Robert found solace in life's simple pleasures-a sizzling barbecue, tranquil fishing trips, the camaraderie of camping, the melody of music, leisurely strolls, and, above all, cherished moments with his family.

Robert is reunited in peace with his beloved parents, Siriaco and Margarita, his brother Vince, and his sister Mary. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his daughter Desiree Cimino and son-in-law, Joe, his son, Robert M. Jimenez Jr (Jan), his sister Jenny, his former spouse, Ysabel Lucero and his adoring granddaughters Gabriela and Giovanna and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert's absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will forever endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In honoring Robert's wishes, burial and interment will be held privately.

Sometimes it feels like just yesterday I kissed you goodbye as I left to AZ for Paramedic school. I wish I could have had more time with you. I wish I could have seen you one last time. You told me before I left "you have to finish what you have started". It´s funny because my cardiology teacher said the same thing last week. It took everything inside of me to hold it together as he continued to give the whole class a pep-talk about pushing through the hard times in Paramedic school. Anyhow, my hope is in the good Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ, that you have found rest in Him. I will do my best while here to rest in Him as well, that I may also run this race and keep the faith alive. Only God can take our broken hearts and make them whole again. My hope is in a new heaven and new earth where there is no more pain and suffering. Where every tear is wiped away. I miss you Grandpa and I hope to see you again someday. Love, Gabriela

I have so many wonderful memories of my Nino, especially as I've grown older, we created more, and I cherished dearly. I truly appreciated our time together. We would make each other laugh until we were crying. That was never good when I was driving while laughing, I couldn't see. Hahaha! We would meet at church and go out to eat afterwards and enjoy each other's company. I remember several years back he came to my garage sale; it ended up being a party with all my girlfriends. They thought he was so handsome; they had no problem telling him and making him blush. He truly was handsome and had a beautiful smile. I feel so blessed to be able to visit you once last time before you met your maker. Our moment together I will never forget. By you kissing my hand, I knew it was your way of saying I love you. I will miss you Nino. XOXO

Uncle Bob will be deeply missed. Every year, we would keep in touch by exchanging Christmas cards. I will never forget the fishing trips and Church outings when we where young.
