I met Bob through his visits to the Christ Child workroom, where he picked up yarn for the afghans. What a beautiful GENTLEMAN he was. I feel privileged to have met him. I pray for him at each Mass.

I had the pleasure of corresponding with Mr. Kallen several times over the last 8 years. My mother was the niece of Mr. Kallen's Uncle Arthur Maurice Kallen of Southern California. I have done all the KALLEN family genealogy because of the marriage of Art Kallen to Hazel Leach, my Grandfather's sister.
Robert Kallen was the son of Leonard, the so of Meyer, the son of Abraham, the son of Emanuel Gabriel Kallen. Abraham Kallen was born in Prussia but died in 1920 in Chicago, IL.
I would love to hear from any Kallen relatives and give you the complete Kallen genealogy report, with great pleasure.
Mr. Kallen was very kind and helpful to me. May God Bless his soul, he will be missed here on earth.

He was an Officer & a Gentleman and in command of the Radio Communications Center at U.S.N.S. Tongue Pt., Astoria when I checked in reporting for duty. It was the 50's. He was a joy to work with, and outstanding leader.
We finished our tours of duty and went on to other challenges. For me it was a change of uniform to that of NWA.
He relocated to Portland. Returning to my hometown, Beaverton, we encountered again in the 60's in the old Irelands Coffee shop. He was with PGE and I in Mortgage Banking for Commonweatlh, Inc. Over the years we lost contact but good memories prevail of that Officer & Gentleman I met and worked with so many years ago. A "salute" in send off as he blazes new trails ahead for those of us remaining.

Bob, his wife, and his family are often in my thoughts, as they certainly are today. I'll always remember with fondness, the welcoming warmth of their home.

I knew Bob from pastoral ministry to his wife Virginia while at Providence Hospital and through the work they both gave to Christ Child Society. After her death he continued to support the gift of afghans to the residents of Laurelhurst ElderPlace. Truly a man for all seasons who saw the human needs and responded with kindness and joy. RIP
I will offer Mass for his generous soul.

I really loved him; he was a gentleman. He was generous to our community. We probably won't know everything he did for us,as he was extremely modest and never wanted credit.

I worked for PGE and took over Bob's Commercial/Industrial Territory in 1975 after he'd been promoted. I was new and Bob taught me a great deal and acted as one of my mentors for many years. He was gentlemen's gentleman, and a role model for younger sales representatives. He'll be missed by all who knew him, including his "customers".
