Bob, you will be sorely missed my friend and I really miss your humor and your endless jokes! I last saw you at the somber funeral of your longtime law partner, Marv Berman (another great man) a few years ago, where I felt you appeared healthy and strong. I began working for one of your clients, USF&G Insurance Company, in March, 1986 (after 12 years with Transamerica Insurance), which is around the time we first met. I was so enamored with your legal intellect and command of case law (especially pertaining to insurance coverage), along with your magnetic personality, together with your rather passionate & pervasive ability to win your cases, you therefore gave me the inspiration and motivation to study case law. Back in college I had taken a Criminal Constitutional Law (criminal case law) class taught by Dr. Maurice Porter (a retired law professor at the U of I) and I was the only one out of about 50 students to get an "A" in that class, so little did I realize at that time I would be eventually take a great passion in studying and memorizing the titles and the gist of these appellate decisions. The knowledge I acquired of case law gave me a distinct advantage over most of my colleagues (who almost never the spent the extra time to actually read these cases). I was the Chairman of our Large Loss Committee where we reviewed both the litigated and non-litigated cases presented by other claim handlers, where I was instrumental in pointing to a particular court case that would nullify liability to our policyholders (which I had occasionally done the same to some of our defense counsel, other than your firm, of course). I had won accolades from my clients and business partners of the knowledge of case law, so I am so thankful for you giving me the inspiration to deeply study case law.

Bob- 4th grade seems like yesterday. You were my friend almost my entire life. You always looked out for me and gave me the best advice. Saying a final goodbye is painful. Now when 5pm rolls around and I have my single malt on the rocks, I will toast to you for being my dear friend, I will thank you for the memories of a lifetime. It was a great run, Bob! It just ended too soon!

Uncle Bob stole my heart at the young age of 21 when I met and married his nephew many years ago. He was the kindest, most generous and loving man. Always welcomed my entire family and was included in all family events throughout the years. He was powerfully devoted and genuine in all he chose to do. I will miss and remember him for his support and love he showered on to all who knew him. Heartbroken

Bob was my father´s college roommate, best friend, and business partner for many years. He was my mentor as a young lawyer, my advisor, my teacher, and most importantly a second father. Words could not describe the warmth and admiration I have for this unique, intelligent, interesting, talented, witty, engaging amd multi-talented man. One anecdote I will share- after working arduously on my first complex appellate brief, I finally handed it to Bob for his approval. He read the 26 page brief in less than 6 minutes, closed the binder, and said there´s a non-sequitur on page 12. Find it and fix it. As I turned out to leave, he said "Ms Meister.... By the way, excellent job." I will never forget Bob. A man of honor, integrity, and kindness...unless you made a mistake!
