Robert Krista Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 17, 2025.
Robert Michael "Bob" Krista, Sr., age 79, passed away on April 13, 2025, in Vancleave, Mississippi, following a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Bob's life was defined by passion-passion for his family, his friends, his work, and play. He was a loving, compassionate and understanding, husband and father. Bob continued to express his deep love for his wife and family even during his last days.

Bob was one of those people that you may only meet once but never forget. When you were around Bob, he made you feel included, never a fifth wheel.

Bob's gentle spirit extended to animals as well; pets and strays were naturally drawn to his kind heart. He would help anyone in need.

He spent much of his professional life as a Body Shop Manager at various Cincinnati dealerships, where his deep knowledge of automobiles and dedication to quality earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Later in his career, he transitioned to Erie Insurance as a Material Damage Adjuster before retiring in 2010.

Bob was a lifelong "Car Guy." His love for cars went far beyond a profession, it was a calling. He built them, raced them, repaired them and occasionally wrecked them. He could tell you the make, model and year of a classic car just by looking at it.

Five years ago, Bob fulfilled a lifelong dream when he connected with his maternal family. Though his mother, Margaret Matthews Burleigh, had already passed away, Bob was warmly welcomed by his uncle Clarence "Bud" Matthews; brother William Burleigh; sister Elaine Lewerenz; and many cousins. This reunion brought great joy to Bob's later years. A special thank-you goes to cousin Billy Privette for posting the family tree that made this meaningful connection possible.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife Amy (née Goodwin); son Robert "Rob" Jr.; daughter Sherry Miles; brother John Paul Krista; brother William Burleigh; sister Elaine Lewerenz; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Anthony "Tony"; sister Diane Burton; brothers Alan Krista and Robert Burleigh.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date on the Gulf Coast. The family may be contacted at [email protected].

May the memory of Robert Michael "Bob" Krista, Sr. his laughter, generosity, and boundless passion-bring comfort to all who knew him.

Bob a good friend to everyone he met. He became an important person to my parents and then to me! This is a picture of our Gulf coast trip after losing my mom in 2014.

Sweetheart,

For 35 years, I have thanked God for bringing us together. Our time together has been more than I could have ever imagined. Time passed so quickly. Seems like yesterday, we were on our first date.

Your light brightened my days and loving arms comforted me. You could always make me smile even when times were rough. You always made me feel loved and safe.

You never forgot an important time or holiday. Your cards were so sweet and heart felt. I could tell you spent time picking just the right one. They often brought happy tears. The abundance of flowers you gave me over the years were amazing. Sometimes too many but I loved them and the love that came with them.

We made a great team. Together we could do just about anything. You always supported my work even when it took me far from home.

I thought if we took care of ourselves, we would have more time together. It just wasn´t meant to be. Our Lord took you home before I knew what happened.

My tears are many but not for you. He has given you peace and made you whole again. Your pain is no more.

We have so many memories. Remembering us brings a smile. The time we have spent just the two of us. The places we´ve seen. Friends we have made along the way.

You are the love of my life and best friend. I can´t remember a day when you were not in it.

Not good-bye but see you later. Until we meet again.

I will love you always and forever.

Your wife, Amy XOXOXO
