LECKIE, Robert George (Bob) Bob Leckie passed away at Vancouver General Hospital on May 20, 2010 at age 87. Predeceased by his beloved wife Peggy (Colquhoun) Leckie in 1998, Bob is survived by his three loving children Jean Leckie (Jim Zimmerman), Ruth Leckie and John Leckie, all of Vancouver. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Jean and Stewart Burris of Kamloops, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sheila and Mike Veidenheimer of New Hampshire and his cousin Ruth Dejong of Seattle, and their respective families, as well as many supportive friends. Bob was born on August 2, 1922 in Vancouver and lived his entire life in the city. After graduating from Prince of Wales High School, he served in the Canadian Navy in World War 2, then graduated from UBC in 1949. Bob spent his career in the advertising industry, as a copywriter and Vice-President/Creative Director with James Lovick/Baker Lovick BBDO, and retired in 1982. He will be remembered by many for his gentle and humble manner. Bob's children would like to thank the staff of Arbutus Manor for their kind support and friendship to their Dad over the last 5 years. A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church, 5600 Balaclava Street, Vancouver, on Friday May 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Donations in Bob's memory to the Salvation Army, First United Church or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. I was an impatient journeyman copywriter when I met him. He received me with a gracious, relaxed courtesy that I remember with gratitude. Condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
