I did have the opportunity to meet and talk with Dr. Lee when I came to the University in 1981 until he retired in 1985. He was a wonderful man, and I especially enjoyed his work in mathematically interpreting the University's Nautilus symbol and the history of its symbolism.

I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to your family. As Psalm 90:10 says he was truly blessed with strength to have lived such a long life. During your time of sorrow, may God comfort your hearts. 2 Thessalonians 2:16,17

Offering my prayers and condolences to Buzz's family and friends.
I was a member of the Blue Ridge Toastmasters in the early 90's and Buzz was a friend and mentor.
I fondly remember his kind words of encouragement and how he made everyone feel welcome and special. He had a rare gift of making strong statements with a light touch.
I am honored to have received the Grace Lee Peace Award and will continue to do my best to live my life in a way that reflects on the values of peace and justice that Buzz and his mother embodied.
Warmest regards,
Beth
