Robert Earl Locke, Sr., 81 of Lubbock, departed this life on Friday, May 5, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Robert Locke, Sr. was born to Fannie Mae and Cunnie Locke in Wolf City, Texas. Robert moved to Lubbock at the age of 3 years old with his Aunt Bose and family. He attended Dunbar High School and graduated in 1961. He traveled a lot in his younger years and stayed in California until 1973, then moved back to Lubbock to become a vending machine provider. He purchased his very first property the Rose Motel and owned it until 1998, then sold them and went on to purchase rental property. He later married Tonia Locke and was blessed with his one and only child, Robert Locke, Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fannie Mae and Cunnie Locke; brother, Billy Joe Locke; sisters, Goldie Locke and Phillis Eastland. He leaves to cherish his memory; his son, Robert Locke, Jr.; his brothers, O.C. Locke and Wilbert Locke; his grandchildren, Unity Payne and Loyalty Locke; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
