When I hit the scene as a young band director in 1973, Bob reached out to me as a friend and colleague. Our paths did not cross often after I left teaching, but when we did see each other, nothing had changed. He always took the time to greet me and catch up on my life. My condolences to his family.

Joy and Family - we are so very sorry for your loss of Bob. You and Bob were such good friends and colleagues of our brother, Michael Veak, through the Bandmaster's Association, teaching students, and shared the love of music in general -- not to mention boat rides and international travel. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

One of the joys of my life was to be able to call Bob Maag a friend and share our knowledge, experience and love of the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association to co-author "The History Of The Band Movement in Nebraska". The knowledge we shared, the joy of researching together, assembling a history we could share with the membership brought great satisfaction as we researched, wrote and presented the final document proudly to the membership of NSBA. The respect I have for this wonderful musician and friend is unparalleled!
It is unheard of that two proud "Bandmasters" could work in total agreement, spending years researching a document and working together to develop an historical document so essential to preserve our history! I am totally thankful he allowed me to have this wonderful experience.

I honor the memory of a wonderful human being today. Bob Maag was a dear friend of my family. He was a teacher of excellence for me, all of my siblings, and most of the children of my home town, for decades. He taught character, perseverance, and a love of music and beauty. I was often in his home, since his daughter was a close friend of my childhood, and he was often in my parent's home, as and Joy were close friends of my parents. He was faithful in church and choir. My life would not be the same without his caring and musical presence. Thank you, Bob Maag, for your many gifts.

Bob was a fantastic co-worker at Waverly High School. He had such dedication to the students and his profession. He was also a great friend and enjoyed the many conversations we had over the years. He will be greatly missed!!

Somewhere up in glory Bob is directing a band of angels in Stars & Stripes Forever, I just know! What a good, caring man who made a real difference in hundreds of young lives. He endeared himself to music lovers of all ages, and I delighted to hear Brady invite him up on the concert stage to lead the Waverly band nearly 60 years from when he first did so. Wonderful images of Bob, a truly great musician and educator.

When we young teachers arrived the 70s Mr Maag welcomed us with leadership and an excellent example of a teacher role model. A District #145 Legend. Condolences to the family.

I am very saddened by the passing of Mr. Maag. He was a pivotal role model during my years as his band student. He believed in me even when I didn´t believe in myself. I send you love, Mrs. Maag, during this difficult time.

I´m so sorry to hear of your loss. In our family, it seems like I bring up Bobs name every once and awhile. He was a great teacher. After school, he wanted me to call him Bob. But Mr. Maag usually still came out. Love you

I was so sad to hear of the passing of my special friend. He meant so much to the lives of soooo many!! I was blessed to have him in my life as a friend and a band director. I know that my parents valued his friendship as well. Hopefully, they are all in heaven together, playing bridge once again sharing stories. Please know that I am thinking of all of you at this time!!
