Robert C. "Bubbie" Mabe

Mabe Robert C. "Bubbie" Mabe, age 80, of Ivanhoe, Va., passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. He was born on Jan. 10, 1932, in Wythe County, Va., the son of the late George and Gertrude Alley Mabe. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Shepherd. "Bubbie" was retired from Wythe County School Systems and Volvo. He was a member of Baker's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Millie Porter Mabe; sister, Elizabeth and R.J. Jones of Kernersville, N.C.; four sisters-in-law, Pauline Williams of Max Meadows, Va., Peggy Stone of Greensboro, N.C., Joyce and Charles Dickson of Fries, Va., and Bootsie Porter of Wytheville, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Ray and Claudine Porter of Max Meadows, John and Helen Porter of Foster Falls, Va; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Baker's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jim Tunnell and Pastor Glennard Quesenberry officiating. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.
