Robert Mason Obituary

Robert Mason, 93, of Vinton, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
He was born in Brookneal, Virginia, on August 27, 1929, where he was raised on a tobacco farm.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Juanita Roberson Mason; his parents, Annie Stern Mason and John Edgar Mason; and his sister, Phyllis Hall.
He was a loving Father and Grandfather "Papa." He loved life to the fullest and enjoyed each day he had on this earth. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. He was a salesman for Pocahontas Welding for many years. He was a very easy going and loving person and everyone that met him loved him. He was an inspiration to many people. His favorite hobby was fishing on Smith Mountain Lake. He was also a great handyman and could fix anything. He loved the outdoors and could grow some delicious tomatoes.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hubbard (Frank); sister, Margaret Proehl (late husband, Kenneth); four grandsons, Brian Hubbard (Amy), Brent Hubbard, Brad Hubbard, and Bobby Hubbard (Lindsey); one great-granddaughter, Audrey Hubbard; and numerous other family members and friends.
The family would like to express their thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their compassion and care. Special thanks to Debra Shelton, his hospice nurse. The family would also like to thank the caregiver from At Home Caregivers, Jasmine Bryant, for her excellent care and her compassion towards him.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, where a Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Troy Mays officiating. The Graveside Service with interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Brookneal, Virginia, with the Rev. Alan Clark presiding.
