I am deeply saddened to have just heard about Robert's passing. I did not have an opportunity to know Robert very well, but was fortunate enough to have sailed on an extended trip across the Gulf with him and Ron Thompson. During that passage, one has a unique opportunity to really get to know someone quite well and Robert was truly an exceptional person. He made you feel like you were an old friend instantly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and he will be truly missed.

What a joy and privilege it was to know Robert. His enthusiasm for life and adventure left a lasting impression. Sailing across the Gulf of Mexico with Robert is one of my best memories and greatest experiences. But most importantly, his commitment to Christ means we'll see him again soon.

It was an honor to know Robert and be able to work for him and with him for the past two years. One of the last things he said to me was, "I want you to go fly a cheetah for me, at least one more time before you go to the airlines, get out of that Cessna bubble and go fly a real mans airplane." So after we got done joking, a day or two later, I took him up on his request, my student and I took off, and 10 seconds after take off, we had to declare an emergency!!! The cowling on the airplane not being secured well enough was literally trying to break away from the airplane! The only thing I could think of doing was calling up Robert to yell at him and tell him how upset I was,and that the Cheetah in my opinion was not a real mans airplane haha. But when I got back on the ground, the only thing I could do was laugh. A few days later Robert was there laughing and I was laughing, and its a pretty funny story now looking back on it. Robert will be missed, but It will be nice to come back and visit flying tigers soon and get that Robert McCorvey warm welcome feeling again at the school! I look forward to it!

What a wonderful service today in honoring Robert. The children did a wonderful job. Robert would be so proud. He was an awesome guy and will be missed by everyone that was blessed enough to have known him. He was not only our neighbor in Galena Park, but was also a friend. Our children all played together and all the children just loved Robert as well as everyone else. I pray in the days ahead the family will feel the Lord's loving arms around them.

There is an incredible bond we share and we are eternally joyful. Michael Childers thank you for letting me know. Robert was in the third grade I taught at Houston Christian in 1963 along with Michael, Bonnie and Joy etc. I am sad. This is an unfair part of this Earth's life. As we get older we are not certain of many things but this we know, there'll be no sad farewells, there'll be no tear-dimmed eues, where all is peace and joy and love, and the soul of man never dies. Pauline, you look as pretty as you did in 1963. The strength of the LORD be yours. Hugs & prayers, Helen Howell Bryan

My prayers and condolences go out to Robert's family today. I am proud to have known Robert and proud to know Christ is his life.

I knew Robert and met him for the first time playing league baseball, FA (Freeway American). The team got invited to the ranch after a winning season, and I got an extra trip with my Dad to deer hunt for catching the greased piglet. What a blast we had!

I was also part of the Milby group, lived across the street from Charles Ferguson; I was just two classes behind, but they always let me hang out with them.

I was fortunate to see and visit with Robert at the Milby 35 year reunion after so many years gone by. He had not changed a bit, smiling, caring, friendly, living life! I know he will be dearly missed, but he is living and serving with our Lord. Again, my prayers go out to the family; the journey will continue.

Robert was a kind and gentle man. His infectious smile and outgoing personality will be missed, but never forgotten. My prayers are that in the difficult days to come that God's peace will rest upon the family and host of friends that Robert leaves behind. Knowing that he will suffer no more, I say "rest well, my friend".

It has been 20 yrs since I last saw Robert. He with his Father and Brother would come by the retail store I managed. The smile always the smile and you just automatically smiled. In one of his pictures he is not smiling. I didn't recognize Him. His sister Carla was also a frequent visitor to the store. Having the privledge of reading the Guest Book let me see how loved he was in his private life. Thank you McCorvey Family. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

I have so many memories of the McCorvey family. Robert and my brother were childhood friends and we all spent lots of good times together. Visits to their ranch; all of us neighborhood kids hanging out under the street lights until way after dark. One of my fondest memories is of Robert and his little green Pinto. You could hear him coming from way down the street. He was so proud of that little car. I also remember when he started flying. He flew over the neighborhood quite a few times doing the "wave" to us all. And who could forget that smile!! When Robert smiled his whole face smiled. My prayers are with the entire McCorvey family and hope you can find peace and comfort in all the beautiful memories we all have of Robert. He is flying with angels I am sure!

I had the pleasure of speaking to Robert twice at Flying Tigers. The first time was when he introduced himself to me and told me he hoped I had fun flying. The second time I spoke with him he called me by name and thanked me for flying with Flying Tigers. His joy for life and his gratitude were obvious to me and I will always remember his words to me. His smile was huge and very contagious. I am so sorry for your loss and I wish you peace.

Robert was our dearest friend, a big brother, best friend, great boss, and someone that has been a true blessing to have touched our lives.
Words can't express how much of a loss we feel to not have him a phone call away, available for a hug, to say hello to just because...but the memories we hold in our hearts will always remain so very special.

Robert was always there for us, together with Helene, sharing many special family occasions, events in our lives, concerts, parties, dinners, & celebrations, and we always enjoyed his company to the fullest. True friends like that are rare!

Robert was the life of the party, brought you up when you were down, made you laugh, lifted your spirits, and made sure he showed you that he cared. He made friends with anyone, talked to people as if he knew them forever, showed interest in you to get to know you better.
We will miss you Robert! You were ONE OF A KIND!
Helene, you know we are here for you always. We love you and the family, as if you were ours. And you and Robert always made us feel like we were yours.

Our love for Robert is immense. May he fly with the angels and forever rest in peace. We will see you in heaven someday. Until then, we will think of you often.

Robert was so much more than a good neighbor. He was a real friend.

In the spirit of freedom and respect for everybody, Robert, embodied the core human values of dedication to family, hard work, sense of humor, devotion to the Lord, solidarity and openness. He was in other words the ideal person, strong in his convictions and eager to share these fundamental values with others.

One evening in 2004, we told Robert that the next morning would be the special day when my wife Silvia and I would become American citizens. He was so happy and proud for us and the next morning he came himself to the ceremony to share the solemn moment and to embrace us not only as good neighbors but now also as fellow citizens. It was such a moving gesture and something we will always remember.

We miss you dear Robert but we know that now you are up there, flying high in the azure sky and smiling to us and protecting your loving Helene, your smart and handsome son Jason, your beautiful daughters Natasha and Chelsea, their families, your grandchildren, your dear mother and brother and sister.

We love you and remember you. You will be always in our hearts and in the hearts of everybody who had the privilege of knowing you.

I am comforted now to know that Robert is in the presence of our Almighty God and he is now able to see the bigger picture of his life and the impact he had on all of us and so many others.
Thank you Robert for the precious memories that I hold in my heart of you. I will always remember the sound of your laughter and how your presence filled the room. Thank you for the many hugs and kisses. You always seemed larger than life to me! Now may you enjoy eternity as you sit at the feet of Jesus!

I knew Robert from Broadway Church of Christ and Houston Christian school and, of course, Milby High School. We talked on the phone once about 1997 or so, and he was still the same sweet Christian man I knew years ago. He was so proud of his family, and I asked about his Mom, and we talked about his family and the "good old days". I was shocked to see this on Facebook today. I am praying for all of you.

Robert was an amazing person with a one of a kind personality & a smile on his face at all times. I enjoyed being around Robert because of his sense of humour and ability to make you feel like everything was gonna be alright. Although life and working at the flight school will never be the same with out him here, I like to believe his work had been done here with us all. Robert took me on my very first small aircraft flight when we moved to Ellington Field...I will never forget that experience or Robert. I think back and remember our private time we spent together going through my family's photographs that I gave him as he worked to construct the McCorvey family's historical photo album.

Robert was so much more than a good neighbor. He was a real friend.
I vividly remember the first time I met him. About ten years ago a car drove slowly by our street, kind of surveying the area, and when the driver saw me mowing the lawn, he stopped and introduced himself . "I am Robert" he said, "and we might buy a house here. Is this a nice neighborhood?" I responded that yes, it was safe, friendly, convenient and well served.
When my wife Silvia asked "what's this person like?" I replied that he looked like the all American young man, tall, handsome, with a big smile and very friendly manners.
Obviously he must have been reassured -despite my not so Texan accent- and a few weeks later, Robert, Helene and their beautiful children (Jason, Natasha and Chelsea) actually moved in and became our neighbors and very good friends.

Robert's and Helene's friendliness and hospitality immediately enlivened the community.
They initiated and regularly organized and hosted the Christmas progressive party that became a tradition of Penn Manor Court, and at at every Neighbors Night Out, they invited everybody, had tables, food, drinks and Robert's music talent to share. In all occasions they were always committed and helpful friends and neighbors to any and all.

In the spirit of freedom and respect for everybody, Robert, embodied the core human values of dedication to family, hard work, devotion to the Lord, solidarity and openness. He was in other words the ideal American, strong in his convictions and eager to share these fundamental values with others.
And of course them being Robert and Helene, the special day became a special night with a big celebration that they arranged in our honor by inviting the whole neighborhood to their home.

We miss you dear Robert but we know that now you are up there, flying high in the azure sky and smiling to us and protecting your loving Helene, your smart and handsome son Jason, your beautiful daughters Natasha and Chelsea, their families, your grandchildren, your dear mother Pauline, brother Tony and sister Carla.

We love you and remember you. You will be always in our hearts and in the hearts of everybody who had the privilege of knowing you.

Helene and Family - Words cannot begin to tell the story of Robert...what a blessing to have had him in each of your lives. He will be missed by us all.

I came to know Robert during high school at Milby as he was in several of my classes and such a comedian! Later in life, what fun it was to work alongside of him, Charlie, Kenny, Roseanne and Steve on the Reunion Committee. He always had a story about his family and how precious they were to him...it was heart-warming to see how much he lit up when talking about each of you...We have lost 'one of ours' and will miss him dearly, as will each of you. His memory will live on in each of us.

Please know that each of you are in my prayers and I know that he is no longer suffering and truly at peace. Our Lord has a plan and has called one of His Angels to come fly with Him...

Robert we miss you guy! We'll see you at the next reunion...

Tony Jr and the entire McCorvey Family-

We are sorry to hear about Robert's passing. I was thinking of him over the Thanksgiving weekend. His life is a perspective reminder to me about the importance of relationships and family.

Although I did not know Robert personally, when viewing the photo album it is easy to see he lived a full and happy life. Lots of great memories are found behind those pictures. Our hearts are saddened by his passing, but we are also celebrating his life with you.

Please know we are praying for your family.

Uncle Robert is the epitome of a Christ like man. Definitely a role model for the family to follow. He will be missed greatly, but his light will continue to shine through the kids and grandkids.
I will always remember all the great trips and holidays spent with him.

What I'll always remember about Robert was his sense of humor. He always had a smile to share with those around him. Often a send-along humorous e-mail originated from his computer.

Robert was a man of vision... he had the imagination to see what wasn't there yet and to be able to create it for the rest of us.

Among the many things that Robert and I shared was a love of flying. I'm sure that somewhere up there above the clouds, Robert will be climbing into a little go-fast plane and checking it out! Robert, you are missed by so many... count me in that number!

Robert was more than my boss he was my friend. He made it a point to ask me everyday how I was doing and what was going on in my life. Robert took a genuine interest in his employees personal lives and created special bonds with us all. He was the leader of the Flying Tigers family, it will never be the same without him. We love and miss you.
