To the McDevitt, I extend my condolences. I had the privilege and honor to work with Bob at CBC-TV 6 Newswatch. He encouraged me as a newcomer doing the weather reports. Because of Bob, I was hired to sing the national anthem at the Expos' games and became one of their regular performers. Once, I even wrote an article about Jackie Robinson but I wanted someone to critique it first. It was Bob who did so and gave me such good advice. He was a warm, witty and brilliant writer. What a wonderful time we had together as friends and colleagues at CBC. He will be sorely missed.

My would like to extend my condolences to the McDevitt family. I only knew Bob from the times we shared on the Montreal Irish touchline watching our sons play rugby, but I always appreciated his warmth and the kind words he had for one and all.

My condolences to Bob's family. I took his graduate diploma radio course at Concordia and remember him as a strong educator and a supportive mentor to young journalists. He knew how to bring out the best in us and did not take kindly to factual errors! Rest in peace, Bob! You are remembered with respect and appreciation.

Very sad to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of my favourite people when I worked with him in the journalism department at Concordia, and my wife and I very much enjoyed our summer cottage visits with Bob and Pat. We will miss him.

I was Bob's TA during his first year at Concordia's Journalism program. He was fantastic. Adored by the students for being tough (but fun) in class & fun (& tough) outside. One of the best things that happened to me during my university years. And one of my first dates with my wife was a Christmas dinner at the McDevitts' home!

To Bob's family;
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I knew Bob, but he was more a friend of my brother Norman (Red) from Park Ex.
Many years later I met Bob at the Old Dublin one St. Patrick's Day, and I was surprised and pleased that he remembered me. I also thoroughly enjoyed watching him on T.V.
We have lost a wonderful, lovely person with such an engaging smile.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
Fondly remembered,
Betty (Woodrow) Smith

Bob was part of a group of OldTimers that met on a regular basis from Outremont and Park & Bernard and he will be missed by the gang.Also the crew from Park Extension who had regular golf tournaments that Bob Attended. I interviewd him and Dickie Moore and Bob said when they played as youngsters in Park Ex - if Dickie let Bob have the puck more often , Bob said he might have made the National Hockey League.RIP Bob.

I hadn't seen him in ten years, and I knew this day would come, but it doesn't sting any less. Bob McDevitt was one of the greatest people I have ever known. No one was more influential to me at a critical time in my life. I am a Professor myself now, and any of my former or current students who feel that they have benefitted from anything I've tried to do to make their lives better don't know it, but they owe a massive debt of gratitude to Bob. From the start, my goal in teaching was simple: I just wanted to be half as good as he was. An absolute legend. Everyone should be so lucky to have someone like him as a teacher. Thank you Bob - for everything.
