Sorry I couldn't make it down for Bob's funeral, the freeway was actually closed up here from the weather that weekend. It would have been nice to see all the McEacherns and visit. The old "Bob stories" are one of a kind. With both Bob and my mom gone, its kind of the end of an era in Wright County politics. My deepest condolences to all of you. Love, Nancy

By brother Gregg, just called me to tell me of Bob's passing. We are so sorry we weren't at the services.Sure would have been had I known. Bob was like a father to all of us as we grew up together. He always had time to shoot the breeze with us. Our thoughts and prayers for all of the family at this time of remembering the wonderful and thoughtful and fun good old Mr. McEachern.

We send our condolences to the family. we wish Bob "happy trails", as we shared many campaign trails together. Although the years had us going our separate ways, we'll always remember you.

I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. Like Bob, I was a high school teacher and a 20 year legislator. I know, from the care we gave my mother, how difficult it is to deal with Alzheimer's. I
wish I could join you in the celebration of Bob's life. I am sure there are more great stories than any amount of time will allow.
I have laughed countless times as "McEachern stories" were shared through the years. I sat next to Bob on the House floor for part of my time there, so I know how true they are. He was very special.
I am also willing to admit that if my name surfaces in one of the stories it will undoubtedly be true. Some of our common friends will no doubt try to claim that these tales have been embellished over the years. Not so. If anything, they have been reduced in a few places. I am smiling and chuckling as I write this.
May some smiles and laughs visit you in your time of grief.

Mr McEachern was my Driver's Ed teacher in about 1973/1974. One day when he picked us up for our lesson, he explained that we were going on a roadtrip. That day our lesson would involve "practice" freeway driving from Regina High School in South Minneapolis to his home in St Michael to pick up the shirts he had forgotten to take with him earlier that morning that his wife had stayed up ironing the night before. I believe he told us that he was flying to D.C. that evening. What a Hoot - It was great. Another perk of being one of Mr McEachern's driver's ed students was an occassional trip to the Bridgeman's on Hennepin Ave to "practice" driving in downtown traffic. He was a special guy!
