I remember when I worked at Lacombe Golf Club with Bob. We always had a great time! I can still remember when he and I squared off at a staff party. All I have to do is look at him and we assumed the SUMO positions. We laughed so hard we cried :)

I will remember Bob for the great person he was. Without hesitation he would offer to go water skiing with us and do anything for a friend. I will miss his light in the world.

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. This is a name from the past that I hadn't heard in a long time, but a name you never forget.I used to call him "Jumbo Down Bob" from our days at Lonnies in the mid 70's. When you called 'pick up' on your food order and they were getting ready to plate your meals,if your order had a shrimp meal on it, Bob would always yell out "Jumbo Down' meaning the shrimp were ready to hit the plate, for some reason that's always stuck in my head. I'll always remember him fondly. Barb, it's been forever, email me at [email protected], I'd love to hear from you xoxo

So sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I have a picture in my desk of Bob taken in Junior High. Always a bright smile and fun laugh. Partied hearty many times with Bob and remember his comments making me laugh so hard I cried and my stomach ached. I am sure that him and Jim Bailly are having some sort of cookdown somewhere.

Barb, Kathy, and Doug, we heard of Bob's untimely demise just this week. So sorry to know that he has passed away at such a young age. He was a great guy and all will miss him. Gull Lake will be a lesser place without him. Our thoughts are with you and we will see you at the Gull Lake Hall on Saturday.

It was with sadness that I heard, from afar, of Bob's death. He will remain Bobby to me in memories of all those wonderful, carefree and long summer days at Gull. He will be missed by many friends.

Doug, Kathy and Barb .... Rob and I were both sadden to hear of the sudden passing of Bob. My first memory of Bob was making the soups at Cannery South, tomotoe gin and mulligatawny two flavours I enjoy today thank you Bob. We were trying to recall the last JR Houston's or Cannery reunion that we shared a beverage with Bob, we could not recall the exact time what we did remember was the smiling face and the best bear hug from one of the finest men.
Bob will be missed!

Doug, Kathy, and Barb.....we are so saddened to hear the news about Bob. A true kindly gentlemen with a wonderful personality. While I(we) have not seen any of you for too many years I(we) have such fond memories of Gull Lake...of The Chief, of Katie, of all of you and especially Bob. I(we) can still see him coming out of the water in his wet suit on one ski with that big smile on his face....there wasn't anyone who didn't love this man and his nickname Jolly fits all to well. He will be missed by many....but wherever he is...they will be enjoying his humour, friendliness and of course his Gull Lake Steak.....

Warmest Personal regards to all of the family and Fondest memories of a wonderful Man...Bobby!!!

Bob was a very special part of JR Houston's in the years we worked together. Staff and customers alike enjoyed his wonderful food and his friendly nature. Those of us who were fortunate enough to be embraced by his friendship were blessed by his great open heart, his boundless generosity, and shoulders that were always strong enough to lean on. No one lit up a room like Chef Bob - he always had that twinkle in his eye, a story to tell and a laugh to share. He was a genuinely kind man and we all loved him.

My thoughts are with all of you,

Barb, Kathy and Doug; our sincere sympathy for your families. What horrible news and with great saddness I'll celebrate and share some treasured memories.Bob was Cannery Row's first Sous Chef and was a key player for the huge success of both locations in Calgary. The staff all loved working with Bob, customers knew him by name and his reputation was established for years to come. Back in the day, Bob and I took a night off to see "Back to the future" in the theater, shared a glass or two of single malt scotch, solved the mystery of how a woman might think, but my fondest memory will remain my young families visit to the Gull Lake Cabin and Bob reading a bed time story to my children - God be with you Bob

Barb & Kathy:
My deepest sympathies to you both. I remember lots of fun at the lake with Bobby, your mom and dad, the rest of the clan. I will always hear his giggle and remember his smile as he twisted his mouth to the side and rolled his eyes up. I remember those days fondly and will cherish them always. I will be thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear Doug, Kathy and Barb:
Although I have known your family forever, I really didn't get to know Bobby well until we worked together at Lonnie's in the late '70s. We had so much fun and so many laughs! Bob was truly a gem with a great sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye. I know he was loved and will be missed by many. My thoughts go out to you and your families.

Farewell, Bob! Last time we shared a pint was in Bucerius, Mexico a few years back. Always a wide smile, a twinkle in your eye, & a good story to share. God speed, buddy!

Dear Barb and Family, My sincerest condolences on Bob's passing. He was a great guy and a ton of fun to work with over the years at Cannery Row. He will be missed. I will always remember his "snowshoes in the corner" story and many other tales that put many of us to sheer giddiness many nites at and after work. Take care, Jane Robertson

I worked with Bob at JR Houston's for a long period. He was always a happy, go lucky person who was loved by all. It was a delight to work and know Bob on a personal level and I have wonderful memories of him.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you all at this very sad time.

My late mother and I had the pleasure of working with Bob at JR's. He was definately great to work with and I will always appreciate his patience with me as I was quite young and not always knowing what I was suppose to be doing.
